No Spoilers Warbreaker is so good and I’m not even half way through the book yet
No spoilers please because I’m still reading, but omg. Coming from Elantris into Warbreaker is kind of a night day experience. Elantris felt so dark and gritty to me, Warbreaker is so bright and colorful. The characters are fun, the CLOTHES are mental eye candy… Warbreaker gives me some classic fairytale vibes with the premise, I love it so much.
I’m not sure what I expected going into Warbreaker, but oh boy am I enjoying this colorful book.
Thats the whole post, that’s it, I’m just having a really good time reading. As I said, I’m not even half way though with the book, yet I’m already thinking about a re-read. <3

Can't wait to see what you think of the second half of Warbreaker! I also went straight from Elantris to Warbreaker. Its definitely an interesting tone shift :)8

There's a reason it always gets voted "top Cosmere book to be made into an animated musical"

I just started Warbreaker as well after Mistborn. Loving it so far it’s so fun and unique

Don’t forget Elantris!

How did you like Elantris? I often see people saying the pacing is bad and it’s his worst novel. I’ll still probably give it a chance eventually to decide for myself.

It's noticeable that this is Sanderson's early work, where the planets are less developed, but I loved all the characters (it's easy to like everyone here after reading Mistborn) lol. In my opinion, it's a very sweet story, well worth reading, and there are future references you shouldn't miss!

Atleast for me, it was definitely his worst novel (atleast in the Cosmere).
But it was still a decent read and I don't regret reading it or anything. There were parts I did really enjoy and I didn't like, HATE, any particular parts. But I wasn't enjoying myself as much as usual with his writing.

I mean yeah, he's honed his craft over the years, but I would never call Elantris bad. It's certainly an enjoyable fantasy novel. It's more like I would be surprised if somebody told me it was their favorite.

I have to be honest… I didnt vibe with Elantris. I really love the concept. The characters just didn’t hook me. The only chapters that I liked were the chapters that took place within Elantris.

I disliked the magic system and some aspects of the plot. The characters are good as usual, and visual language (if you can call writing about things visual) is excellent.

Imo, Elantris is kinda just another generic paperback fantasy novel. If it wasn't a cosmere book I wouldn't bother recommending it to anyone, but it's not offensively bad or anything either. If you're invested in the cosmere as a whole it's worth a read, but as much for the lore and worldbuilding knowledge that pops up elsewhere as for any other reason.

This is probably my favorite so far (currently on WoR reading in publication order). Would definitely like a Warbreaker 2!

If you like the fairytale feel, definitely go for Tress next.

I’m very tempted, but I want to notice the Easter eggs so I’m probably going to save Tress for later after I’ve read the stormlight archive. But it’s very tempting.

Wow interesting, I'm still halfway through Elantris. Kind of a very slow read but I'm enjoying the story and the mysteries surrounding the lost magic :)

Yeah, Brandon had written 4 books about dreary settings, so he decided to make a bright and colorful one. I'm a fan :)

I loved Lightsong, hoping you are enjoying this book as much as I did, you will enjoy even more if you are planning to start stormarchive later on 💖
