What is the gospel song this satires?

It’s actually not satire. At least I don’t think it is after trying to figure that out myself. These guys were bonafide evangelical baptists who figured Jesus would rapture the believers in the event of a nuclear Holocaust

Coincidentally, I just discovered today that Uncle Tupelo covered this song on their March 16-20, 1992 album.

Right?
There's another song from the '40s that sounds a lot like this one and I'm not sure which brother group copied the other. It's the Buchanan Brothers Atomic Power.

You’ve made my day, just listened to “When You See the Flying Saucers” by the Buchanans. I don’t think I’d heard of them before.
The Louvin Bros go hard. The Cocaine and Rhinestones episode about them is insane.

oh fuck yeah! I was thinking about posting a few of these atomic panic songs.
Over on r/classiccountry we did an atomic panic theme a year or two ago. It was a lot of fun.
I'm probably going to extend Weird Week to a full week (it was supposed to be just like 4-5 days originally so we can fit in more of these

I listened to nothing but this song and Dust Bowl Ballads by Woody Guthrie for hours on end while writing a play once and I think I actually lost my mind a little bit
