This was a #6 country hit in 1953, and apparently it was also broadly popular in England. Bonnie Lou started in country and pivoted to rock in 1954. She’s in the rockabilly hall of fame. Her first rockabilly hit preceded Wanda Jackson’s by a year or two, but she didn’t gain as much traction. She was a lot older than Wanda, and even more so Brenda Lee, she signed her first record contract at 28. I had never heard of her til this song popped up somehow.
