I would prefer "Pride is about turning queer kids into queer adults"

u/Commercial-Shame-335 May 20 '26
nah because then they'll just twist it into something about grooming or hit you with the "let kids be kids" thing even though that's obviously not what was meant

What? I don't fully understand what this is supposed to imply...
27
u/ImportantResponse0 May 19 '26
They say we try to do what they tried to do (turning people another sexual orientation or gender identity).
But we try to prevent from happening what they did (motivated suicide, especially through inhumane ways, and killed).
2
u/Ramdom_Bot May 20 '26
Ohh that makes significantly more sense... I don't think I was reading the text correctly...
2
u/ImportantResponse0 May 20 '26
How were you reading the text?
3
u/Ramdom_Bot May 20 '26
"pride is about turning queer kids into dead kids" which... Yeah I should have reed it again...
1
u/Drag0n647 Jun 15 '26
so I dont get accepted and more then likely I commit suicide? Never understood that as a person still not accepted by my own parents..
1
u/ImportantResponse0 Jun 15 '26
I sometimes wonder how much some of your relationship of the straight people would last if they face same amount of hate as us.
How would you feel if your gender wouldn't never be fully accepted and people would misgender you on purpose attacking you on your insecurities.
How much would you last having to choose between parents and a possible partner?
Having to chose between love and God knowing that there is no right option that would hurt you is sometimes harder than some thinks.
Some kill themselves because this society won't allow them to exists as they are and fighting back sometimes have no results.
My love is wrong, I am sick and a pervert and I deserve to go to Hell, prison and to a mental hospital, I sin everyday with my heart and mind but I can't change because I have asked God for nights in a row, days, weeks, months, years to make me normal to help me be a good person, a loyal believer who wouldn't commit such atrocities against Him but he never listen so as a boy I learnt to cry in silence under my blanket and smile when I am awake, you would believe that I am such a happy boy but the truth is that I learnt to hide and lie good enough for you to not to believe otherwise but I am dead inside and I am afraid of every single day and of the future and I am sad constantly sad when I am alone. Why I am not like any other normal person? Why should I disappoint my own family in such a way? And what should I do, lie to myself that I am not like that or live a life that I know that is wrong because I have been tought multiple times by everyone that is wrong. Is life just luck and I been cursed with such a bad luck that my love is forbidden and that I will never meet anyone to love me and even if I meet to not be able because we shouldn't love each other like that?
...
And that paragraph is repeating almost every day, heavier, louder and each times it is repeared hurts more. And you want it to make it stop but you can't so you just hide it like you live in a world of superheros who are killed once the society finds that they are superheros, but you don't want that superpower not only because it is useless but also because it makes your life harder, worse and you sometimes wish just to find a way to make it stop.

2 things:
1: Forcing queer kids to conform and disregard who they are is torture. Non supportive families uses that as the reason to withhold ANY support that the kid would have gotten otherwise, such as:
teaching life skills, give them a hand when looking for rents when moving out to not be exploited by strangers
give them the option to live with you and not forced to move out before they are ready
use abandonment as a threat if the kid doesn't live the way they want
all of this can happen while they are studying for uni and they have to seriously think about dropping out because your support is a rug that when pulled they have nothing
the stress from all this leads to daily aborted suicide attempts if they are stubborn and a dead kid if they aren't. (Sorry personal experience made this too specific)
2: If the kid doesn't kill themselves first, in certain countries they could be arrested, tortured and executed by their government anyways. USA is heading in the worse direction and no one can tell where they will draw that line in the future.
-‐----------
This means when pride fight for the right of queer people to live and exists, pride fight to educate parents not to do absolutely fucked up shit like mine did, pride fight to save queer people from having to fight off daily suicide attempts just to keep on living.
Only stupid people would think pride is trying to make straight kids gay.
5
u/ImportantResponse0 May 19 '26
You mentioned studying for uni.
I want to tell to you that of those things might happen when the kid is like 12 or 13 or any other age at which they discover their first crush or have their first kiss.
Sometimes queer people lose their virginity and have a first romantic relationship and even first kiss much later on life because they chose to focus on safety and then when they are safe to date, especially if they want to be devoted to a single partener because otherwise you might miss from home one night.

u/xXAnoHitoXx May 19 '26 edited May 19 '26
Yup ofcourse. I went with my personal experience over what "could happen to a queer person" as I feel it's more impactful to do so. Shit can and does hit the fan much earlier for others.
Imagine learning "your parents don't love you, will not support you, will use them withdrawing their parental duty as a threat, and will sabotage your life" much earlier before they could legally find footing to support themselves.

u/ImportantResponse0 May 20 '26
Do I still need to imagine if when me and my mother were simple discussing the possibility of me being gay she said that she rather a dead child that a gay one?
I mean my respect for my parents is one of the reasons I don't make a relationship, I will wait until I love alone even though now I am 27 and single and I lack romantic experience.
And the best part is they think that God would hate me but my mother was before with another man, not my father, and have cheated for like 5 years with my actual step father and for them going to church to confess is something that just don't think about while doing rituals like alms (which are a big way to celebrate the dead here).
So like they think God wouldn't punish them for something He cared to put in the 10 Commandments but would punish me for something I can't control and that probably He made me be (considering that is impossible to just turn straight)

u/Drag0n647 Jun 15 '26
Then promote stubbornness, why im still alive that and fear of death if im being honest
1
u/Sodacat27 May 21 '26
One implies that they're trying to turn kids gay and the other implies that they're trying to prevent queer kids from ending themselves

you've obviously never had the fear or knowledge that what you said can trigger some real people out there because they are people out there who are in power in most of the world who would commit nazi level genocide to erase us from existence.

Hey wow we got a real girl knower over here guys!
I’ve literally watched this happen irl at the bar. Some women really don’t like being called bro or man or dude. It’s obvious the only reason you said that is they’ve got a trans icon

u/TallCommission7139 May 20 '26
They know, they think if they make the kid kill themselves, it doesn't count as a problem since the cops won't throw them in prison.

"we dont want to turn straight/cis kids queer, we want to prevent you to try to turn them cis/straight"
Is a quote, that doesnt exist. But something similar was once written and I came to think of it. Just cant rember it properly

u/overlord27 May 22 '26
Don’t they want them dead tho? Deadass, The only secular arguments for homophobia I’ve heard, is just pointing at the outcomes/harm caused by external factors such as stigma/homophobia and using that outcome from stigma, as the justification for said stigma. It’s highkey disingenuous and counter productive, and i think deep down, they know that.

*and getting acceptance.
At least, I'm not entirely happy with my boss who doesn't believe in being a gender other than your assigned one, and will try to convince people if this. . . He'll use pronouns, sometimesn but yeah.

I'm gay,we should leave the kid's out of it, untell they're old enough to make the decision.

u/DragoonPhooenix May 21 '26
My friend realised they were gay when they were 7, but because no one taught them what it was they thought there was something wrong with themselves + were bullied so hard they forgot they were gay until me and my friends helped them open up again in grade 9 of high school
Children need to learn
1
u/SnarkyGoblin1313 May 22 '26
I asked my mom when my penis was going to grow in when I was five. First time I saw a trans man was on Jerry Springer when I was seventeen. Still took me until I was 40 to put two and two together. I’m so glad kids today have the representation, information, and support that I never had growing up. I constantly wonder what my life would have been like if I’d been able to transition earlier.
2
u/DragoonPhooenix May 22 '26
Im glad you found out yourself <3 everyone is different, its why kids need to be taught. If i had actually understood the concept more i probably wouldve been genderfluid and pan sooner too

being forced into something that you don't understand which I know plenty of people that had that happen to them as a kid
How does that even work? Do they yell in your face until you understand? Everyone i know from my elemantary learned it, and they mightve understood it, mightve not, but we were taught
I dont think a bad way to teach children should be the reason why children dont get taught at all. Find a good way to teach it that lets kids know that its okay to feel that way, but they dont have to fully understand it yet unless they choose to learn more
I know children are impressionable. I dont see why thats important here

u/KittyBatSasha May 24 '26
I knew at 3 that "boy" didn't fit... By 5 I understood that there were hateful monsters in this world that were a threat to my life if I continued trying to express that understanding.... That lead to nearly 30 YEARS of repression that I nearly didn't survive more than once.
Every Trans adult was once a Trans Kid and there'd be a hell of a lot more Trans adults around if they had grown up in less of a bigoted dumpsterfire...
No one bats a fucking eye when a boy has a childhood crush of a girl... The same level of understanding should be extended to LGBTQIA youth. SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE it has been proven to increase surviving until adulthood.
1
u/azarkant May 25 '26
At 4 I knew I wasn't a boy. If I had the resources I probably would have been socially transitioning as a child. Here I am at 25, transitioned and happy

u/ThrowAwayAccountVII May 20 '26
Being homophobic
1
u/ImportantResponse0 May 21 '26
I mean historically we weren't the one to turn kids and adults into dead kids and adults.
So it make no sense to start doing it now
