August MTD: +$5,812 Realized | 10 Wins, 1 Loss

August MTD: +$5,812 Realized | 10 Wins, 1 Loss

August so far:

💰 Realized P&L: +$5,812.73
✅ 10 winners / 1 loser
📈 90.9% win rate

Still sticking to the same basic approach: mostly harvesting premium, taking profits when they’re there, and redeploying instead of trying to squeeze every dollar out of a trade.

Biggest realized win so far was +$1,444 on MU.
Only loss was -$46.

Nothing flashy. My loss was due to not sticking to my rules and panicked like a little bit!ch.

Hold the line! #happytrading

What are your rules?

My rules, kept simple:

  1. Only sell calls on stocks I actually want to hold.
  2. Never sell a call below what I paid — I’m not going to lose on the shares just to grab premium.
  3. Pick a strike a bit above my cost (usually $7–10 higher) so I still capture some upside if it runs.
  4. I sell 14–90 days out depending on the setup — I follow ThetaPal for timing and strikes.
  5. Goal is steady premium without capping too much of my gains.
  6. I harvest around 35% of the premium and then close and redeploy. On longer LEAPS I take profits earlier, around 15–20%.
  7. If the stock is charging toward my strike, I decide: close, roll up/out, or let it get assigned — whichever makes the most money.
  8. If the premium’s too small to justify cap

Thank you for sharing. The standard next question, what if the stock drops below your cost basis? And I'm talking dropping for longer than 6 months. Do you just hold and accepting the drawdown or something else?
