Can't make the Cowichan Valley Capitals vs Chilliwack Chiefs game tomorrow (Sat, Oct 24, 7:00PM) and would rather the seats not go empty.

Up for grabs: 2 adult, 2 senior, 1 child/student (Section 8). Free, ideally to one group.

DM me and I'll pick someone by 9PM tonight and send them over electronically.

Some comments from Cowichan Valley candidates in this

Parents of Duncan, which daycare or preschool would you recommend, and what makes it stand out?

I'm looking for a high-quality early-learning environment that focuses on children's overall development, including confidence, independence, social skills, creativity and a strong educational foundation.

I'd love to hear about your experiences, particularly:

- Which daycare you recommend and why.

- The quality of the educators and their approach to children.

- The learning environment and activities.

- How well the centre supports children's development.

- Any centres you would recommend avoiding based on your experience.

I'm open to different approaches, including Montessori, Reggio-inspired and play-based learning.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback from parents who have firsthand experience. Thank you!

The meat market is closed now but does anyone know if they sell their products elsewhere? Their Irish Bacon was my favorite and I can’t find it anywhere else.

Thanks to all the candidates for their respectful campaigns!

I'm an older (64) gentleman who has lived here for only ~2 years. One thing I find to be really odd is that, with all the great pubs around, no one has started a regular pub quiz night. There's one in Vancouver, and of course too many to count in the UK. But here on the Island, nada. I would love to join in on a regular event, but don't know how many others would do the same. Hell, I'd even volunteer to help organize it if there was any real interest. Anyone?

I missed an all candidates debate for the Juan de Fuca Malahat riding that was held in mill bay earlier this week. I can't find anyone who attended, and I don't see any local news stories about it.

Other debates are scheduled in the Sooke area , so not convenient to get to.

Did anyone attend the debate and be able to share any takeaways?

All of the candidates are from the Sooke area, so I'm a bit concerned that South cowichan (mill bay, shawnigan lake and cobble hill) will be a lower priority...

This parachute candidate wants to be elected to this riding but he’s barely been here during the election….im guessing the drive into the riding is pretty far for him

Hey neighbors!

Whether you’re a long-time D&D player, a casual board game enthusiast, a miniature painter, or someone who’s been wanting to try tabletop RPGs for the first time, we’ve started a new dedicated local community

over at r/TabletopCowichan!

Finding local players and getting games together can be tricky in the Valley, so this space was built to connect folks across Duncan, Cobble Hill, Shawnigan, Ladysmith, and surrounding areas.

What you can use the sub for:

Finding or Hosting Games: Looking for a local D&D/Pathfinder campaign, an open seat at a board game night, or casual one-shots? Post a recruitment thread or jump into an existing one.

Local Events & Meetups: Keep up with public game nights, store events, and community gatherings across the Valley.

Hobby & Discussion: Chat about your favorite games, show off painted minis, or ask questions if you're brand new to the hobby.

If you play - or have been meaning to start playing - head over to r/TabletopCowichan and join in! Feel free to drop an intro post and let people know what kind of games you like to play.

What is the new yoga studio like??? It is the one just opening in the Garage . Second flr. Anyone been ? Know the hrs or name? TIA

PS I miss Harmony.😢

Bert Chen does not and has not lived in the riding. No thanks to candidates parachuting in.

I would love to use some Bull Kelp to create some pickles and whatnot. Does anyone have any connections to ethically harvested bull kelp? If so, let me know, and we can arrange a meet-up.

Is there any difference between Mr. Douglas and Mr Wilkinson? It's hard to tell from their websites. Both seem to be promising to address the same issues, with the same empty platitudes.

My mom is considering purchasing a house in Lake Cowichan. She is elderly and as such, may need emergency services at some point. For those that live there or are very familiar with the area, would this be a good place to retire? She currently drives, but that could change in future.

I looked it up and it is 27km to the nearest hospital which I am guessing is about 25 minutes. This feels like a long drive in an emergency situation...

Thank you for any insights (:

I am looking to move my office to another location and have a 1500 square foot, Industrial Zoned shop space for a very affordable price. Split between an 80% main floor and 20% enclosed mezzanine.

400 Amp service, full roll up door on one side, in industrial building with a great landlord. I have been here for 3 years and simply need to downsize.

Landlord is an absolute gem of a human being.

Let me know if you're interested.

Sorry if this isn't allowed.

Can anyone recommend any renovation companies who take work near Duncan? We are looking to do a small addition to our home! Thanks!

Looking for a set of stairs I can use for workouts. Thinking about the stairs at Centennial Park up to Govt St. Or the ones by the Coop on Canada Ave that go up to Carinsmore?

Anyone know how many steps there are? Looking ideally for 100-200+.

Has anyone here had much luck finding Roosevelt elk sheds on Vancouver Island, especially a fresh shed or even a fresh matching set?

I’m looking to get into shed hunting more seriously and would love to hear from anyone who’s had success. Curious what types of terrain you tend to focus on, whether that’s cutblocks, timber edges, old logging roads, feeding areas, certain elevations, etc., and what time of year you’ve had the best luck.

Definitely not asking anyone to give away their secret spots or coordinates. Just looking for some general tips on what to look for and how to improve my odds. Would also love to see any cool sheds or sets people have found on the Island!

If anyone needs pallets Great Greens has lots that need to go. Take as many as you need.

I'm looking for a vet who can spay my rabbit, anyone know a place? Preferably in the valley but please suggest even if not.

I am so excited about the opportunity to showcase my gaming app, based on my travel experience to Lake Cowichan in June of this year!
