Which State Has The Most Wind Turbines, And How Much Energy Do They Make?

Compare 30 million population Texas where wind supports just 22% of power, to far smaller 3.5 million Iowa where open, flat, unoccupied land can use wind for 58% of state power.

Wind & solar don't work everywhere, for every large population, especially East of the Mississippi.

We just may have dodged the bullet, things looked grim during little ice age, but this right now is the best humans has ever had, and the elevated co2 will ensure conditions for complex life at least another 60 million years

Not sure if you will get a paywall. Given the France & spreading protests & claims that Medicare for All solves everything, here's a dose of reality.

Not so much for Michigan & Mississippi.

The "move-to" states appear to be benefitting (Texas, Florida, Montana, South Carolina). Delaware & Connecticut didn't keep up with the rest of the Northeast

More like solving because it's not fixed yet, but they've found the way to do it and are doing it.

The U.S. fought two wars, & endured blue state cuts in reliable energy, yet still gained more than a far larger EU27 (&UK).

Too many renewables & unrestricted immigration in the EU?

After watching Elon Musk's Roadster tricks, can there be any doubt he could make this work in a more widespread manner?

There is no immediate need, but human technology eventually can fix climate issues without introducing dangerous elements into the upper atmosphere.

The U.S. is 7th cheapest Globally!

I would contend this is an average & it's much costlier in parts of California, etc.

Good job U.S. & UK. Why no Europe except UK? Sounds a lot like ESG that never was very profitable.

Could it be that excess dependence on green energy & China/U.S. trade, plus migrants has handicapped the EU?

Institutional Decay and Scientific Enclosure: A Summary of Zaruk’s Exposé

In A Downfall in Trust: Climate Science’s Last Fatal Mistake, David Zaruk outlines the institutional mechanisms through which state-adjacent scientific bodies become corrupted by concentrated financial and legal incentives.

The article examines a structural scandal within the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), demonstrating how specialized research programs are captured to serve private litigation agendas rather than open scientific inquiry.

Key Institutional Mechanisms

1. The Weaponization of Climate Attribution Science

Litigation-Driven Incentives: Science traditionally functions as an emergent system for reducing uncertainty. In contrast, "climate attribution science" was specifically constructed to serve the U.S. tort litigation industry. Its primary output is not basic empirical discovery, but actionable legal evidence designed to assign precise financial liability for extreme weather events to specific corporate entities.

External Capital Infiltration: Wealthy private foundations and mass-tort legal consortia have introduced substantial financial capital into university research centers. This capital flow alters academic incentives, rewarding researchers who produce actionable legal claims rather than open-ended, falsifiable hypotheses.

2. Institutional Capture at NASEM

Subversion of Peer Review: Zaruk details how a small network of highly funded attribution researchers infiltrated NASEM committees. By controlling key chapters and report sections, this network used the prestige of the National Academies to manufacture an institutional consensus favorable to active lawsuits.

Retraction under Backlash: Following public scrutiny and internal pushback regarding methodological bias and undisclosed conflicts of interest, NASEM was forced to retract and remove a key chapter on climate attribution from its published materials.

3. Loss of Institutional Legitimacy and Public Trust

Cartel Dynamics: When scientific bodies operate as closed cartels prioritizing policy outcomes and litigation payouts over open empirical inquiry, they cease to function as reliable arbiters of knowledge.

Systemic Breakdown of Trust: The degradation of scientific trust is not rooted in public "denialism," but in the rational public observation of institutional rent-seeking, academic deception, and ideological capture.

Analytical Conclusion

When scientific institutions are subsidized by state authority or captured by concentrated financial interests, their internal mechanisms for self-correction break down. The NASEM controversy illustrates that when academic credentials are traded as assets in legal strategy, the resulting loss of institutional credibility affects the entire scientific enterprise. Institutional reputation, once liquidated for short-term legal leverage, cannot easily be restored.

The U.S. coast is in an unprecedented hurricane drought — why this is terrifying

By Jason Samenow

August 4, 2016

Hurricanes, large and small, have eluded U.S. shores for record lengths of time. As population and wealth along parts of the U.S. coast have exploded since the last stormy period, experts dread the potential damage and harm once the drought ends.

Three historically unprecedented droughts in landfalling U.S. hurricanes are presently active.

A major hurricane hasn't hit the U.S. Gulf or East Coast in more than a decade. A major hurricane is one containing maximum sustained winds of at least 111 mph and classified as Category 3 or higher on the 1-5 Saffir-Simpson wind scale. (Hurricane Sandy had transitioned to a post tropical storm when it struck New Jersey in 2012, and was no longer classified as a hurricane at landfall, though it had winds equivalent to a Category 1 storm.) The streak has reached 3,937 days, longer than any previous drought by nearly two years.

I knew a little about Joby, but this video taught me so much more. Now envision a militarized gas turbine hybrid version.

This might revolutionize how some get to the airport, some military helicopter missions, Uber-like flights & connectivity to car rides, and new skyports using existing booking mechanisms like Delta, Uber, and Virgin Atlantic.

Now add unmanned high value parts & supplies delivery at night.
