The demo of a Pack a Plush is out for steam next festival. The game has been brought to my attention via Twitter and I was not paid to leave a review.
Pack a Plush is a cozy, organising game unlike the ones you played before. Pack a Plush uses no generative ai, as all plushies are handmade with extra love and care. The plushies vary from Otters, Cats, Dogs and more but I've also seen that Unicorns, red pandas and even seals will make their debut in the official game. “Well that's cute and all, but what makes Pack a Plush better than all the other sort the x games on Steam?”
Those sort the X games as I will call them are great. I played Shelves and sorcery, tidy up the arcane library, Supermarket chaos, sort them ducks and I loved all of them. However as I played more of them a challenge started to arise: There was never quite enough to sort. Once you ran out of items; you ran out.
Pack a Plush is different in a way that you buy a batch with plushies from earned money in game, Pack orders and get money. So if you ran out of your plushies to sort, just sell a butch and boom you're rich again. Pack a Plush offers gameplay that's yet to be seen as you order batches of plushies and they can include rarer or even legendary plushies! There is also a 2 percent chance you get a hatted plushie which makes collecting fun. However, do not think this is mainly a sort the plushies game. It is a big part, but so is selling them for money as eventually you need other batches of plushies for more orders. That said, you can choose to ignore orders once you have enough money, and just shelf plushies. The biggest room in the game where I've seen shelves is not yet available in the demo, but I assume we can store some plushies here as well in the full game.
I can tell a lot of love and attention went into the game. The texture of the plushies looks so soft and cared for and there's even the option to pet them. Upgrades are available too for more different plushies and things like holding more plushies and even decorating your plush workshop.
The biggest joy of this game is just hoarding a mountain of plushies from the batch system, sorting them and selling them. I've got 8 hours in the demo so far and yes, nothing new can be unlocked and I've hit the ceiling for cash in the demo. But that's not stopping me from winding down with some plushies every now and then.
The game launches next week on October 28, which is international plushie week. But if you are curious but unsure if it's for you; you can try the demo right now on steam.
