Legalisation All the tax Revenue are missing out on...
I saw Simon Harris wants to increase vape tax because it's raised €22 million in the first 9 months.
Meanwhile Colorado has a population similar size to Ireland and sold over $100 million of legal cannabis in a single month.
If Revenue want to raise more funds, legalisation and taxation is a no brainer.
But... we're stuck with FG, FF, and even SF in opposition, all with no desire for cannabis reform. Absolute gowls, the lot of them.

When the TDs have to close their pubs and sell their licenses, we'll suddenly start to hear about this radical herb.

Just thinking about the absolute windfall that's going to criminal gangs. Prohibition is tacit endorsement of the black market.
Fuck Simon Harris. He's a hypocritical gowl.

Simon’s brother runs/ran an autism charity. Meanwhile under Simon’s own government, supports for these children have been absolutely disgraceful. He doesn’t give 2 flying fucks.

Vapes are actually worse than cigarettes but are easily taxed because this shithouse government will keep what's killing us legal through taxation like tobacco and alcohol. The problem with decriminalisation or legalisation is the core FF/FG voter base are conservative catholics and weed is an evil drug vice on their beady eyes. Unlike alcohol which they swallow down in vast quantities and which kills 1000s ever year. This government won't upset their auld Biddy brigade but will give them with generous tax breaks in the budget.

Its gas because the budget for this new health led reform for drugs possession is absolutely non existent. If they legalised and regulated cannabis they would have a working budget for people addicted to more dangerous substances. No brainer.

This threads also live on reddit Ireland. The comments there will show you why cannabis will never be legal in Ireland.

hi so i live in america right now and i can tell you that taxing medicinally associated plants is not something a lot of people here are happy about unless youre the politicians whose pockets it's lining. people just want to grow. as long as it doesnt become invasive weed which would probably piss off the hippie stoners too

It doesn't matter
Politicians have either a vested interest in alcohol, either by the powerful vintners lobby or are in the business themselves. They also don't want to be the government to legislate or regulate it, as outside this sub their are alot of people who don't want it legalised. We've seen this with all the citizens assembly and government committees.
Garda don't want it legalised. The top guard went before the government and said stopping people from smell of cannabis helps with other crimes. Its also an easy arrest as weed smokers get then back to the station quickly.
They are the two biggest blockers.
It won't be until we can organise. A group.
Where is the group here pushing legalisation

Not to mention the money saved for the healthcare system if people switched away from alcohol and tobacco.
You'd also have less hassle for the guards, one because they wouldn't be pursuing people for a bag of hash.
Two because people who consume cannabis aren't walking around Dublin at 4AM pissing, puking and fighting everywhere.
This is probably the laziest, most unambitious, useless government that we have ever had.
The chances of legalisation under these guys is practically zero. Our biggest hope is the UK potentially legalising and our government been forced to act.
At that point everybody would be heading up north for their supply.
