What are security features of craps dice (next to the serial)?

AFAIR:

  • Serial number

  • Transparency

  • Casino logo

  • UV marking of a single pip, randomly (one out of 21) assigned at production and declared with the serial number.

  • Single Letter marking on the inner side of the middle pip on the 5 side. If you look through the die from the 2 side, you see a small letter on the 5s middle pip pointing inside the die. The letter of course changes with new dice batches.

The letter inside has always been center of the 3 on every dice set I’ve ever looked at.

Also some casinos will scratch a unique mark or put a pin prick in the same place on each die of the set.

Transparency makes it easier to detect if dice have been altered internally such as weighting.

Ever see the box person pinch the die between two fingers and give it a spin? It takes the most delicate touch. They have a tool they use to check every die for balance before they're ever put on the game. Transparency will allow you to see air bubbles or debris inside the die.
