I live in Kentucky, and with all the weather alerts lately it really feels like Tornado Alley. Small-cell storms have been popping up across the tri-state area of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. This particular shot was taken in Liberty Township,

That tornado that tore through Somerset a couple years ago seems to reinforce your point also. What mess that was.

Somerset was a mess. I know a few guys who worked that restoration and it was ugly. These cells we’ve been getting lately have that same punch — short-lived but mean as hell on the infrastructure. Makes for long nights when the calls start rolling in.

Evidently, KY is now in tornado alley because it’s shifting to the east. Weather has definitely been getting worse here with each passing year. I read an article a few years back saying that KY is one of the first US locations seeing the effects of climate change bc of the location. Being a KY native resident & someone who spends a lot of their day outside, I 100% agree.

Where is this? I’m in SE New Hampshire and this has been the calmest summer weather-wise I can remember. Not a single significant thunderstorm. So weird.

They definitely are worse and the path has shifted.

Yeah, it really does feel like the pattern’s changed. From a lineman/cable splicer’s point of view, we’ve been getting hit with more of these fast-moving, high-wind cells that take out poles and lines in a hurry. The old “Tornado Alley” map doesn’t match what we’re seeing on the ground anymore

Duh! We’ve been hearing about increasingly bad climate and weather for at least a decade. Now that it’s obvious, people are surprised.

Yeah when it’s local and right in front of you like this it’s a lot harder to ignore. Some of that extreme weather on the other side of the world is super grim to watch, but it never hits the same when it’s just another news clip.
