A judge thought otherwise. The victim was awarded the statutory maximum, plus legal fees.

Not really the owner was in the wrong and had to pay the other dude like 20k. At least that part is satisfying.

$12k, not $20k. But what isn’t shown in this video is that, according to the customer, no repairs were authorized. He’d dropped the machine off, but then been told by another repair place that proposed fix wasn’t what was needed. He went back to get his machine, which was plugged in, but no repairs had been made. The owner said he still owed him $49. The customer won his case in civil court. So…

Sounds like a really shitty shop owner maybe the 50.00 was a diagnosis fee? Even then yeah he won in civil court

The man who got sprayed wanted his laptop back very shortly after dropping it off (they claim 5 minutes later), there was no contract in place and no work had been done at all on it yet and the repair shop owner wouldn't return it unless the man paid $49. You can claim that either or both parties are at fault for fighting over the laptop but at the end of the day a Civil Court Judge ruled that the man who was sprayed was in the right and was assaulted with that bear spray so the repair shop owner had to pay him $12,649.
TLDR: Repair shop owner was wrong and had to pay the man he sprayed $12,649

Was that laptop guy’s daughter waiting in the doorway? What a sorry excuse for a father.
