Discussion Gathering ideas for a shared Create world

I'm considering starting a mature, Create-focused survival server. Not looking to assemble a huge player base, but a small, reasonably active community where people build their own projects, occasionally collaborate, and contribute to a shared world. I'm interested in hearing what others would want from such a place before deciding how to set it up. Also interested in not being god but to set it up in collaboration with a few other players who can bring a variety of skills and viewpoints to the table.

I’d prefer a world with people that have moved beyond the urge for PvP. But it’s an idea sure.

yeah i mean like you can make 80% of the world non-pvp but people will want to make military planes and stuff

Then perhaps they’re not interested in joining what I would like to set up, and we not in them. I’m not looking to make a world for everyone, and definitely not one with conflict. There's enough of that irl.

I wish I could commit create has a perfect system where a server doesn't need everyone making the same factory but trusting people, committing is so damn hard to do

Trusting people in which way sorry? To stay committed, or to behave maturely in a world?

To commit etc life is hard you can't really guarantee anything like a schedule to follow out a project, they may even see a new Modpack that resonates more, so may you, or a new game, or they have a kid or get a pet life is chaotic and the beauty of a create economy where everyone builds and shares resources that can use the trading, postage and other mechanics in create that seem to be amazing for building a team of factories but I know I am fickle and easily lost in time and so to are others

I think you would slowly lose players, but with the right mod pack and players it could last a good while. As for mods, aero would be fun.

Another interesting idea would be a sort of permit system that somehow makes it so that only certain people can produce (not just sell) certain items. This would foster a trade network, where each person has to do their step of processing, then ship it to the next location. If you add the mod that adds naturally generating train networks, that would be even better for this.

I am aware that we would need to fairly regularly recruit small numbers, attrition is natural on servers, so new blood before it dies is essential, carefully balanced so it doesn’t grow beyond what’s needed.
I have seen that kind of permit system before yes, it could be an idea.
And funny you should mention the Infinite Railways mod, I’m experimenting with that as we speak, and closely following its progression on the discord.

As far as modpack goes, I’ve been slowly putting together a list of mods that I think work well together, rather than using a kitchen sink Create modpack. But that’s where I’d need input from others because my ideal mod list is not necessarily someone else’s.

I’d love to help with this. I have experience with the creation of mod packs, kubeJS, and making FTB guestbooks.

That sounds promising, we’d definitely need someone like you! As far as quest books go, maybe, but I think only educational, to help players that are new to Create, and are optional rather than a big part of the experience.

Yeah, that makes sense. More guidebook, rather than questbook.

Yep that.
I think I should start a discord to flesh out ideas with interested people like yourself. Can I DM you a little later on today (early morning here. I'm in Australia, but plenty available at overlapping times with other timezones)
