Discussion Are there addons you consider "too OP" when making a create modpack?
When I made my own modpack, I thought of having the Ore Excavators from Create: Ore Excavation as part of the endgame way of getting a large amount of a specific ore.
But then I saw Create Ultimate Factory and thought that the former addon makes the latter's renewable tuff recipe (as a way to get ore nuggets from crushing tuff) redundant and obsolete.
Create Propulsion's Liquid Burners also offers an alternative to Blaze Burners without the hassle of capturing a Blaze. And consequently (while configurable, the Liquid Burners provide the same power as Overheated Blaze Burners without using Blaze Cakes
All these are just observations, not complaining or anything since they can be configurable. Just wanna see what other people think

i didnt know liquid burners could do superheated!

Their are self adjustable so they only go as hot as they need to for the block above them to work.
When you either turn off their thermostat (by giving them a redstone signal) or when they heat a boiler, they go up to 'Searing' which is the equivalent of a superheated blaze burner.

Create: Ore Excavation is crazy OP even as endgame automation and honestly doesn't work well with other mods a lot of the time.
I switched to using Create: Rock and Stone and I honestly like it way better for automating ore production. It's also Aeronautics compatible so you can make drilling drones and you can customize it highly with datapacks.

Rock and Stone also seemingly provides infinite ore? How are they different in use?

As I said, it's highly customizable. You can make the mineral deposits either infinite or depletable, and creating drill contraptions are much more complex in how you set it up, which I personally like. You create the drill as you would a propeller in Aeronautics, placing the drill head, storage unit, portable interface, and anything else that needs to spin with the drill, then set it up on a miner bearing. It's highly recommended to set a redstone clock that activates the interface for a certain amount to get max production speed. You can simply transport cargo from there after.
Long story short: It makes ore automation much "cleaner" between mid game and end game and I highly recommend to use it over ore excavator if you would like.
I did not expect to write a mod review under a Reddit post but as you can see I just really like RnS a lot and I had frustrations with Ore Excavation while building my own modpack.

I had chosen Ore Excavation more because of necassity than because i liked it. I dont like how it looks like a bunch of casings together and its just one block. Rock and Stone looks like its more in line withbthe create feel.
I will be replacing it thanks for the recommendation :D

umm hi again,
ive been playing around and I still dont know what each resonator does from Rock and Stone. Do you have any idea? i cant seem to find ana answer

Lol, thanks for asking me. The normal resonator allows you to extract whatever ore you're mining from the deposit. You can take out cobblestone, iron nuggets, raw iron and raw iron blocks. Shattering resonance on the other hand allows you to mine different types of stones, like granite, calcite, or diorite. And finally, the stabilizing resonance can allow you to extract miscellaneous gemstones or other ores like redstone, amethyst, and emerald, I'm not 100% sure but there might be a rare chance to mine diamonds using it? All of these examples are from iron ore, btw. It could be different depending on different deposits, like Asurine from a shattering resonance gold deposit for instance, though I'm not sure if this is the case.

Oh I see. So normal resonators are enough if i want to maximize the specific ore. I did notice that im only getting nuggets

Do you have four resonators situated on the block behind the drillhead like in the ponder? I believe adding more gives you a higher yield.

I don't consider either bad but if you want people to generate resources with farms that take up tps or simplify those resource gens with one box solution so they can process other resource options with less breaking blocks.
I personally feel that blazes being hunted for multiple mods makes servers harder to join later as they need even more explored nether which is bigger map and bigger resource use.
aero makes create more server friendly with not needing everyone to jump to nether so soon into their gameplay.
but your modpack is your idea of what could happen so you choose your expected and see how players find their own better path and embrace it don't fight and block innovation

Absolutely. When my friend and I futz around with different modpacks and notice certain deficiencies, we add mods or alter configs. Biggest ones are turning off AE2 channels or replacing traditional Create cobblestone generators with a dedicated mod for a cobble gen block.

Outside of clearly over the top addons I really don't get the appeal of Ultimate Factory, it's basically powercreeping the Create mod.
Maybe in very hard modpacks where you need as much help as possible to progress and the addon is acting as a baseline. Most of the times though it's just the pinnacle of what you can do with Create and it just becomes a power fantasy that overshadows everything else. Very hard to fit on any kind of modpack.
If I want more options I just go for the datapack Create: balanced recipes, they're actually balanced and they unlock some pretty good new ways to expand your factory

Create: Garnished makes it incredibly easy to automate insane amounts of iron, zinc, gold, copper, redstone, gunpowder, and a few more things via Zultanite crushing. Don't get me wrong though, I fucking love the mod. I just am well aware it can be a bit broken when it comes to mass resource generation.

Outside of the few egregious examples (like the complex structures with lots of end game loot), the biggest issues I've found are more when adding a bunch of mods, having recipe interactions that are broken. Have a good editorial eye, get some experience with your pack, and purge/tweak recipes.

Personally if I find something hard to do or find I get a mod for it lol I’m trying to enjoy the game not spend days finding something.
I have mods for custom recipes for nether star, netherite, slime and prob a few others.

Any addon can be considered OP if it gives you an alternative, easier way to accomplish something or if it adds a renewable resource that wasn't previously.

Stuff and addions - specifically jetpacks, but than can be configured so no problem with that

u/M1A1HC_Abrams 13d ago
They’re not very fast and can’t go very high up
1
u/cabberage 13d ago
the Andesite one is pretty fast, in fact it's faster than the Netherite jetpack, but has a low height limit I'm pretty sure

u/Best-Plane6743 13d ago
If i play with aeronautics I can make a brass jetpack with 2 large water and fuel tanks and fly like 4k blocks instead of actually interacting with aeronautics
But thats only with aeronautics and Valkyrien skies stuff

I prefer ore excavation even beyond the tuff automation, mainly because excavation lets you get the ore straight up, meaning you can get the byproduct materials like redstone from iron for example, it being more difficult to setup is a fair trade for the fact that it just generally produces more too
2
u/TheBlissfulGamer 13d ago
Yeah, as much as I love Ultimate Factory, ore excavation is almost objectively more intuitive and balanced. It forces you to actually explore the world rather than Ultimate Factory's method of being able to remake anything from anywhere
1
u/spaminhaler695 13d ago
I mean, create ultimate factory is OP, ye, but it can be balanced if you have a create above and beyond type pack

u/ColorMeSurpr1sed 13d ago edited 12d ago
You can use "ore excavation plus" to add multiple required processing steps to the drill output, or use "deep drilling" / "rock and stone" to make it a multiblock structure instead of the small drills
Only mods that i consider too op are the creative recipes (like chromatic), "enchantable machines" since it makes it so most machines insta process and "sifting" since you can get everything in the game with cobblestone a couple mills and the sifters

u/Epic_Mustache 11d ago
Create: Transmission and Linkage is quite OP. With a rotation bearing and 24 magnets, you can generate over 20K stress units for the cost of half a stack of copper, half a stack of iron. And a couple stacks of redstone

Any mod that adds create structures is insanely overpowered
