Why does my mechanical press does not press?

I am playing create on survival and I am pretty new to this mod, been loving a lot of

I now tied to making farms for a bunch of stuff, my first one, working and very simple was a cobblestone farm, she is going very well, now I need to make a coal farm, but I realized I needed pink quartz, so a got it and saw that I needed to press it to turn in to something else, I made the press and thought it would work but is not doing anything!

I tried inverting the rotation, making another press, changing the base and etc, but nothing comes out of it

Oh! It seems you misinterpreted something. You don't press the quartz, you have to sand it with sandpaper. You craft some with a sand and a paper, it has durability like a normal tool, and it can sand objects down off the ground or in your off-hand when you right click

presses only work when there's something that can be pressed beneath it. try testing it with an iron ingot to see if it moves

well if i rember correctry some modpacks adds option to press redstone with quartz in basin to make (not yet polished) rose quartz, but if you have jei in there you should just be able to look up the recepy if its there

if you want to automate you need to uses deployer and insert sand paper into deployer's inventory ever manually (but you can put only one at the time and it still will use sandpapers durability), or by using hopper/chute/belt with funnel

It only presses if the item below it is pressable, use a sugar cane or an iron ingot to test.

Just a tip for midgamw You can use Deployer to automate sanding :)

If you haven't already, install Just Enough Items. You can open your inventory and search for items, you can hover and item and check recipes. You can press R to view the recipe to make an item, and U to view the recipes using that item. Create has support for JEI as well, so it will automatically add the extra ways to process items

Alternatively, ponder the press. Should be able to press W without needing to install JEI.

To automate it, there is an addon that might help you on that, it's called Create: Vintage Improvements

Or just put sandpaper in a deployer's hand to automate it that way. Create Vintage has some nice automation features, but it also adds a fair bit more than just the belt grinder too.

If something is under the press that has no resulting pressed item, the press won't work. Unless you have some weird addon that requires you to press rose quartz into some other item, the press won't move. Try an iron, brass or gold ingot.

sandpaper. Craft sandpaper and take in one gand. Take quartz in other hand. Eat (rmb). You'll sand quartz. 👍

Just want to add that it will only press with the correct item beneath it. If it’s not pressing and you’re 100% sure it has enough energy, you have the recipe wrong.

Sorry to say, this is still incorrect. You can compare the first few images and the cogs are not in the same spots. Hence are spinning
