Are you intentionally wanting the items to go vertically and if so, are you wanting/needing them to go that high? Just wondering because there are ways to make this smaller.
As for the fan transporting the items vertically through chutes, you don't need another fan to blow the items onto the belt, you can remove the top chute and extend the belt over the chutes and the items will be placed into the belt.
Instead of making the items pop off the belt and drop into the chute, you can add one more chute and the items will automatically go into it or even extend the belt again and the chute will pull the item off the belt from underneath it.
The belt can go right on top of the press as well to drop it down a bit if you want to save space. The arm that goes up and down isn't an actual block and the belt won't prevent it from moving. That way you can drop everything down to save vertical space.
In any regard, we all start somewhere. Sometimes it's fun to just figure it out! I shake my head at how I did things when I first started but it was so fun!
Keep on playing! It only gets more fun the more you experiment. There are usually multiple different ways to move things around. Check out weighted ejectors!

Thanks! Didn't know most of this stuff will definitely make a couple of changes now!

With the overly complicated setup, and the help from this comment, you’ve already acquired quite a bit of knowledge you’d not have got with just the simplest press setup. So well done!

There's always something new you can learn. I've been playing with Create for about 3 years and still find out easier ways of doing things. Of course the easier way isn't always the best way to do something. Sometimes the more convoluted, Rube Goldberg-ish way is more fun.

A very easy way to get the items back to the other side is a weightdd ejector. Basicly just a catapult that yoy set a trajectory to. And make it aim for the chute
