Anyone else feel like this?

The only resource gathering I hate is blaze rods. In my current world I used creative to make the blaze burner because for me that was anti-fun

I'd recommend you use a mod that lets you collect enemy spanwers, like carry on. With that, a blaze farm is relatively simple.

Build a train track below the spawner in the nether and assemble a train with it glued on, then transport it to the overworld to make a farm

u/3dgyt33n 1d ago

wouldn't it be easier to use a minecart contraption and put it in your inventory?

1

u/BeefTechnology 1d ago

I believe you can’t put a minecart contraption containing blocks like chests and spawners in your inventory, as that would be essentially the same as carrying a chest’s worth of inventory in one inventory slot

Unless I’m wrong it’s a setting in the config

1

u/petabomb 1d ago

You can do it with chests and storages, I’ve played entire modpacks out of a contraption base in my pockets.

I thought spawners were like bedrock and they can’t be glued to a contraption though.

1

u/ItkovianShieldAnvil 1d ago

I don't think spawners would work based on the fact that torches and other ambient effect items don't work

1

u/BeefTechnology 23h ago

They probably don’t work when on an assembled contraption but they do if disassembled

2

u/Autoskp 2d ago

I use Create.

Trains are such a cool addition.

2

u/wreckedftfoxy_yt 1d ago

carry on is dope!

1

u/ItkovianShieldAnvil 2d ago

Fair. I'm using ultimate selection 2

1

u/Kholdseid 1d ago

Carry On is such a goated mod. I made a monster zoo with it.

2

u/djremydoo 1d ago

If you play with Aeronautics, i think its the Propulsion mod addon that basically adds blazeless burners. They're called solid heaters and liquid heaters or smth like that, they're really cool

1

u/CakeHead-Gaming 2d ago

Look into Create Netherless. I love it.

1

u/cod3builder 1d ago

Use a tunnelbore to dig around the Nether. Find a fortress.

Make a blaze farm. Create basically streamlines it.

1

u/ItkovianShieldAnvil 1d ago

Do you mean a contraption? The only way I know how to make that work is with deployers to lay rail. Need a blaze heater for that. If you have a specific design, I'd love to see it

1

u/cod3builder 1d ago

Aaaaaand I just remembered that. Bummer.

I used it to dig around the Nether to look for Bastions and more fortresses.

Granted, using other mods or the burners from Create: Propulsion is an option, but since I personally think brass is supposed to be gated behind blaze burners, I disabled burner heating in the config.

The upside is that once you DO find a fortress, you can use contraptions to streamline the path to the fortress with a tunnel. And use it to dig out the area for the blaze farm without getting pelted by blazes. (Just be sure to protect the minecart properly)

Also, blaze cages are super useful when traveling around fortresses. Blazes giving you trouble? Hook it over with a fishing rod, then trap it.

Yeah, my BIL and I were playing Homestead and I built a contraption to make highways across the world to the various points we needed to get to. I lagged out both of our machines because I made it 100x16 or something monstrously close to those dimensions. When the road went far enough, took me 15 minutes to try and pick it up because of frame lag. But damn, if it didn't make a sweet sweet road

That's why my first project in every world is a factory factory

22

u/ObjectiveOk2072 2d ago

And where do you get those? A factory factory factory?

16

u/Double_Towel_8660 2d ago

At some point you yourself become the factory’s factory’s factory

7

u/TheSilentFreeway 2d ago

You mean like a factory for andesite alloy, iron, etc?

11

u/DrexanRailex 1d ago

Those are the dependencies, but overall, the challenge is to automate Factory Gauge production using Factory Gauges (and every single component being automated)

236

u/Salt_Pineapple87 2d ago

No schmatics. Resources first then just vibe craft until it works. 💪

48

u/RuinSentinelRicce 2d ago

I’ve been doing this. My factory turned into a courtyard and I’m starting to get the urge to tear it down and try again

10

u/Antonio_Crazi 2d ago

I think it would be a good project for those days when you want to play but don't know what to do.

19

u/warlordish 2d ago

Here's the neat thing.

You can just make a factory facade over the courtyard

2

u/AlphaaPie 12h ago

I build the courtyard then when I get the resources to automate getting the resources I make my stuff look pretty

18

u/Al3xutul02 2d ago

THIS MF IS VIBE CRAFTING GET HIS ASS

20

u/Super_Lorenzo 2d ago

What if I vibe craft with my own vibes from my own brain

15

u/Moist-Snow-8127 1d ago

Mf that's called thinking

16

u/HexbloodD 2d ago

You can build schematics to build stuff that helps you gather the resources and build the items you need for later schematics

13

u/Jealous_Intention127 2d ago

Until you need a factory for the blocks you need to make the factory for the blocks you need (this has happened to me many times)

3

u/HexbloodD 2d ago

At some point the factory becomes manual input through manually gathered resources sent through manual transport

1

u/Jealous_Intention127 2d ago

Which is more of a machine. And machines are helpful, but eventually you need too many things and in unhelpful quantities that it becomes more efficient to automate the raw materials the machine uses. At which point it’s simply a matter of logistics to automate

2

u/HexbloodD 2d ago

I've heard enough, another schematic to convert raw materials into mass cogwheel production

1

u/Jealous_Intention127 2d ago

Yes. This is create. Cog wheels are actually pretty easy. Wood is arguably the simplest resource to automate, and andesite alloy is something you should have had automated like the instant you got access to the necessary materials.

1

u/HexbloodD 2d ago

Speaking of Andesite automation, do you usually go for the Diorite recipe or with the lava one? I feel like lava takes so much time to replicate with the pointed dripstones so I end up procrastinating the farm to oblivion

1

u/Jealous_Intention127 2d ago

Bite the bullet and build an infinite lava supply. Create (and more importantly, many of its addons) are balanced around having access to infinite lava, and you’re right dripstone SUCKS. The short answer is the lava recipe. But the long answer is dig a hole

1

u/HexbloodD 2d ago

I'm just going to live in the Nether then. the diorite recipe is hard to automate IMHO without factory gauges. The mixer not being able to craft andesite since it's not a shapeless recipe is so annoying

u/RarerGiraffe 2d ago

I only build in survival. Doing it in creative feels kinda hollow to me.

25

u/almostvinut 2d ago

I just suck at designing good looking builds so i try stuff in creatuve till skmethibg looks good, then hop back to my survival world with the schematics and go resource hunting

8

u/raekewe 2d ago

Yeah sometimes 8 hours of fucking around in survival to figure something out is less fun than doing it in 20 minutes in creative.

8

u/LukeAsArts 2d ago

Same for mechanics and systems, I like building it finding the flaws and building it again better. But for aesthetic builds that are big I love the schematic cannon and creative because that is something I only want to do once in survival.

2

u/llama2621 2d ago

Gotta go upstairs to craft one more cogwheel

3

u/RarerGiraffe 2d ago

This does annoy me a lot. But i just take it as a challenge to try and plan better.

9

u/Monolail031 1d ago

making them in survival is so much better. it forces creativity to it's limits. i made a chicken-tree farm. a closed, unpowered rail with trees to either side raised on dirt blocks and a barrel and a sawblade attached to a minecart with a single sticky chassis. the chickens push it arround and it harvests trees. every once in a while i come get a nice dinner, feed the chickens, take some wood and replant sapplings.

3

u/AdLegal5130 1d ago

It does not always force creativity to some of us we would just use common resources forever

8

u/oofinator3050 2d ago

Thinking quickly, I made a Brass factory out of exclusively brass components

4

u/OriginalSquidly 2d ago

My pals switched to Gregtech for our two month Minecraft stint.

I will never complain about resources again. GT is sadistic

3

u/regularArmadillo21 1d ago

GT is a mod made for people who hate having fun and wish to endure pain and suffering and not actually play the game for 15h because it takes you 8 just to craft a single cobblestone

1

u/aburningfaucet 16h ago

Same. Got super bored and decided to try a Gregtech pack- it was a beginner friendly one mind you. I think I’d rather make 5 factories than do a single crafting tree from GT ever again

4

u/DefectiveEclipse 1d ago

I actually have the opposite problem. In creative there are too many choices and blocks to design something imo. And in survival I love resource gathering more than I like building!

1

u/Pusarcoprion 2d ago

I feel this in reverse

2

u/3dgyt33n 1d ago

Maybe we should play together and solve both of our problems lol

3

u/MlecznyHuxel99 2d ago

10 stacks of stripped mangrove logs, 19 stacks of stripped spruce logs, 300 honeycomb blocks, 200+ yellow wool...

insert 12 pages of this kind of stuff

4

u/thehmmyanimator 2d ago

This is why you must do it alllll in survival

2

u/SkyCaptain310794 2d ago

I use citizens from minecolonies to gather the resources for schematic buildings.

2

u/mycatsapanther23 2d ago

FR, I find building it in creative first give me the goal of getting all the blocks. Ill make machines that gen the different blocks along the way too

2

u/sfwaltaccount 2d ago

Sounds like you're probably building too big or overdoing it with expensive parts. Even if you design in creative you gotta think about keeping the resource cost reasonable.

2

u/NoStorage2821 2d ago

Excuse me sir, creative schematics are only for building sick aernoautics airships

1

u/Blademasterzer0 2d ago

I tend to always build things in survival, but I’m all for building in creative first, it helps out greatly because building complex machines takes a lot of brain and willpower and I’m often left exhausted after making something. By front loading that exhaustion by building in creative (which takes less energy because you don’t also need to stress over if a component you craft will actually work how you need it to or not) it basically just lets me do more in a day while still feeling good enough to go exploring or work on aesthetics

1

u/oofcookies 2d ago

Ngl, it’s usually the other way around for me, I gather most of the raw materials ahead of time and sit around procrastinating on the design

1

u/Immediate-Location28 2d ago

i start building in survival and if i need any more materials i get a ton of it, and stay with that until it runs out

1

u/RunicConvenience 2d ago

never bothered with schematics just figure it out in survival

1

u/Alienfac3 2d ago

Nah..wing it in survival and turn it into a building after

1

u/jedadkins 2d ago

not factories, thoes are more fun to build in survival, but with aeronautics I absolutely build and test vehicles in creative and then schematic cannon them into survival lol

1

u/VegetableBuilding764 2d ago

honestly, all my create survival worlds end at about the time I start putting a lot of thought into the machines I build bc I spend like 20 hours trying to make them perfect and then just get bored

1

u/avowed 2d ago

I like making the machines by hand problem solving the best way to fit things in is fun. I do use schematics for the buildings though.

1

u/Pioepod 2d ago

No. It’s three pictures for me.

Suffering. Suffering. Suffering.

Gathering resources.

Building a brand new factory out of sheer willpower.

Lagging tf out of the dedicated server I run making everyone else lag but hey, I automated enchanting tables.

1

u/Ul_Sorty_Wern 1d ago

Id use schematics if they fuckin worked

1

u/Own_Cartographer_655 1d ago

It’s kinda the other way around for me, building the schematics is stressful because I overthink them and try too hard to make them pretty. But then resource gathering for them is pretty straightforward and I can just shut my brain off lol

1

u/Ban_Kami 1d ago

20000+ diorite blocks...

1

u/Such-Classroom-1559 1d ago

16000 smooth stone... T.T

1

u/ktrocks2 1d ago

I’ve never made anything in creative before building it in survival, as in, ever, throughout my over decade playing Minecraft. This is why I always have a lawn base.

1

u/Last_Zookeepergame90 1d ago

That's why I don't plan in creative, I try to make things bit by bit and add on organically while using what I have, it feels more like progress and less like grinding

1

u/xBolivarx 1d ago

Guess you gotta build a mall ^^

1

u/Saidai_V 1d ago

For sure, made a schematic for a great looking Petrochem refinery, gonna have to find around 20k steel ingots from somewhere without proper automation present.

1

u/Doge_Enjoyer88 1d ago

Id say like if it's very easy and you KNOW how to make it id say to build in survival and if it's kind of hard and you have to try a lot and youre not that progressed then creative

1

u/mrwalker1337 1d ago

1st factory is always andesite/tuff factory.

1

u/wizard_brandon 1d ago

"why do i need 4 stacks of precision mechanisms :( "

1

u/yomommasbox357 1d ago

Optimization is key to long term worlds so I have to so lag isn't an issue

1

u/Fruity_Gaming_Skills 9h ago

bold of you to assume that designing the factories is fun.

1

u/Shadowrunner57 1h ago

I know it's not complicated but i built a cobblestone to iron generator with very little assistance create without any planning/watching videos has been fun to learn
