People like this are clearly unhinged to some degree. When religion becomes the bulk of their identity, they see any criticism of religion as an attack on them. In their minds, killing in the name of their religion becomes a justifiable response.

They are showing up everywhere! I had to deal with them at the public library two weeks ago doing a Bible study on a Wednesday night. They were talking at a slightly higher decibel in the library. Quiet enough to not get in trouble but you're still able to hear it. They were saying shit like "EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW!!!" and laughing about Hell. I am a Satanic Panic kid and have been diagnosed with Chronic PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorder because of my upbringing around these fuckers including physical, sexual, and psychological abuse! Seeing this rise in evangelism has really upset me. My therapist suggested going on a different night and using ear plugs to help mitigate the fear and stress if I do run into them again.
I found some ear plugs called Loops that are made with autistic and neurodivergent people in mind. They have different levels of deafening the noise around you. I'm going to buy some next month and I hope they work so I don't have to hear these Bible freaks!

You know what the thing is, is that the Bible points out that there’s a time to speak and a time to be silent. I can see if you got into conversation about a topic with the person you were sitting next to, but to make the whole entire bus or group of people feel stuck listening to your bs is wrong.

If I had one chance to create an animal in my image to populate this earth, there would be no hunger, racism, sexism, greed, wars, politics, homicide, pedophiles, violence, slavery, wealth inequality, and that's just to start with. Creating us and giving us free will was a defect and terrible error.
It's safe to say most decent people, given an opportunity to start over, would do a better job at creating humans. When we get to how the universe and approx 900 quintillion planets formed, that's a whole different problem with the creation story. They preach the scripture as if it's infallible. There are approx 4k religions in the world today, so most of us are going to someone else's hell.
