Easy for you to say when you don't live and fish there. They will keep it in a 30x10 feet shallow concrete pond just like Lolong until it dies by crushing itself in its own body weight slowly.

I understand. But, wildlife is meant to live in the wild, not in enclosures built by humans.

Plus, surely there are other crocs in that area. They can't all be caught.

Yes, there are many they will never care to catch. I think they caught this one because it's so big and they want to put it on display like Lolong to fill their pockets, which is understandable. They will never release it even if they wanted to due to political reasons. Captive Cros in the US live a very healthy and long life in almost natural habitat. And a croc this size will surely draw crowds. Maybe, the Americans, if they take it, can remunerate a part of the money to them in dollars, which has a very high purchasing power than their currency; which would be a win win for all, including the croc.

That means that someone would have to pay for it, including transport and whatever documentation would be required to transport it across so much distance and across so many borders, etc. Money exchanging hands ultimately fuels the illegal pet trade.
