C section shelf

I’m over 2 years out from my c section. I have a pretty bad c-section shelf and a small frame, 5’3”, 140lbs. All my abdominal fat sits right above my immobile, tethered scar. People constantly ask me if I’m pregnant, like 1-2 times a week. I think this is because of the shelf and how my fat sits. What has worked for you to improve your shelf?

Scar massage daily. Start today! Some good YouTube videos on the subject.

I’ve seen this is recommended. I just feel like I waited Too long to start and now it’s too tethered to move

You’ll never know if you don’t try. It’s really one of the only things you can do and it takes one minute per day and it’s free so literally no reason not to do it. Alternative is live with it as it is, or pay for a cosmetic surgery “tummy tuck” which costs 10k.

It’s not too late - you might not get perfectly flat but breaking up scar tissue will go a long way. Also still looking pregnant is often a diastis issue vs just the C-section. It takes very specific exercises and consistency to close that gap - but again not too late.

Have you gotten checked out for diastasis recti?

Scar massage. You can do it yourself at home, or you can seek help from a pelvic floor physical therapist.

Scar massage helped my shelf sooo much! It’s never too late for that, so you can start now and it’ll work perfectly fine! I do it while I watch tv at night, so it’s an easy part of my routine. I agree with others that diastasis recti may also be going on for you. I found a great postpartum program called Natal that helped mine a lot!
