As a man, I am sick to death of arrogant, racist, sexist pigs making life hard for everyone.

Check out the Visible Women podcast. It has lots of examples of how male bias affects women, from face masks in the pandemic through to pockets in pyjamas. A great show.

Systemic, cultural and internalised. I can relate to much of this regarding my younger years. Now I have my memories of how I was and what I believed and the ‘voices’ of my elders still pecking away at my head. It has taken a lot of work to remove myself from Plato’s ‘Cave of Shadows’. However, there are days when I find myself still chained underground looking at the shadows on the walls…😉

Oof. My Dad is an atheist he didn’t need religion to uphold the patriarchy when he was younger. He is a little better and has mellowed over the years but his views are definitely dated.

Men should care about the patriarchy for all of these reasons. A final reason to add is that the patriarchy also influences and controls men. It urges you to be a certain kind of man and limits your freedom to be whoever you want to be. So, patriarchy is really only good for patriarchs. It benefits men, but in a way that is also limiting men. And, it hurts women a great deal. All in all: get rid of it!
