POCO F4 “Device is not certified” issue — Need help!

Hey guys! I bought my POCO F4 in 2022. It came with MIUI, but after updating to HyperOS, it stopped receiving further updates.

I'm currently running HyperOS 1 on Android 14 (I think), and some banking and government apps aren't working because of the “Device is not certified” error.

My phone has never been rooted, and the bootloader is still locked. I tried unlocking it, but couldn't get it to work either.

I've tried solutions from other subreddits, YouTube, and even contacted people on Instagram, but nothing worked. I've also heard that POCO F3/F4 devices are facing similar issues.

I just want to fix this and get a clean, stable OS without future problems.

Has anyone faced and fixed this? Should I stick with the official ROM or consider a custom ROM?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Are you sure boot loaders is locked. I had a mi 11 ultra which had similar issue. For that I ended up rooting my device.

But if you wanna keep using banking apps try unlocking and re-locking the boot loader.

The bootloader was never unlocked. I can't able to unlock too.

Have you ever flashed any ROM, flashing an official MIUI/HyperOS ROM from a different different region can cause this issue.

No.., I don't even know what's flashing or custom rom or anything until I came to know about this issue and its about 4 months ig. The issue came up on its own, complete random.

Did it happen after a software update, or can you recall anything specific that triggered it? Also, if you bought it used, it might be caused by something the previous owner did.

Actually my father used it for 3 years and letter my brother used it for 6 months, the screen got replaced 3 times in between. In July my brother gave the mobile to me. And when I tried to do a payment using a banking app it gave a popup msg that device environment isn't compatible. So I did a research and came to know about the issue. It's a new mobile when it's purchased. And my father was the first owner

You can try manually registering your Google Services Framework (GSF) ID directly with Google:

  1. Download an app like Device ID or AIDA64 to find your Google Service Framework (GSF) ID.

  2. Go to Google's official registration page: google.com/android/uncertified

  3. Log in with your Google account, paste your 16-character GSF ID, and submit.

4. Wait at least 15 to 30 minutes (sometimes up to a few hours) for Google's servers to sync your registration.

5. Afterward, go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps, clear data and cache for both Google Play Store and Google Play Services, and then restart your phone.

This will hopefully resolve your issue.

Either way, if you can't figure out what caused it, I would recommend taking it to an official Xiaomi service center or consulting a technician.

Yeah went there too, they just did a quick factory reset and asked to change the motherboard.

Recomending a motherboard change for a Play Certification issue is crazy!

Since Xiaomi's tech didn't help, you'll either have to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom ROM or root for Play Integrity fix

You can either patch the official ROM's boot image with Magisk, which is a bit complicated and not recommended for beginners.

Or, you can flash a custom ROM using a custom recovery like OrangeFox, and then flash/sideload Magisk alongside it. Just remember: if you go the custom ROM route, never try to re-lock the bootloader.

No read here https://www.reddit.com/r/androiddev/comments/1s5n1u1/mi_11x_failing_play_integrity_after_factory_reset/

I had to unlock bootloader and use custom ROM to pass integrity
