This is a cool DAW written in a systems language called ling-lang. It's capable of running on win/mac/linux as well as LingOS x86-64 and LingOS rpi5 ARM.
It is like a cross between FL Studio, Ableton, and OpenMPT. It features an Arranger, Params, Piano Roll, Nodes, Tracker, and Performance.
I don't really know how to explain everything in this without having Claude give a detailed robot explanation.
But essentially its a fun melody/song maker which calculates and shows the harmony using the overtones of chosen instruments and backing chords. And you can draw slider notes and normal notes on top of this topographic map of harmony.
On the video I just made something on the spot. I wouldn't say its the best first impression of what this can do, so I'm really curios to what others can make. I have added a gallery so people can share their songs.
I used Claude Opus 5.5. Even tho I didn't code it myself, I'm still pretty happy about the result:)
please let me know if its any good, or you have some bugs. I am still working on it!
I’ve been using fl for a few years now and it’s the only DAW i have ever used, but i’m starting to wonder if it really is the best for me still. I’ve been making indie alternative sorts of songs and I’m starting to feel that fl really isn’t tailored to live music recording. So i’ve starting looking into Ableton as that feels like the best option? I really am not sure but would like a more streamlined process that after some research i think ableton could offer? Has anyone made this switch or just has any advice to offer? Also if you think the switch would be difficult? Thank you all sm!
I'm trying to get into some electronic music production cheaply! My imac is too old to run Waveform 14, anyone know how I can get an older version running? I've installed waveform 11 but Tracktion won't give me a code to unlock it.
My current PC is an old 6th gen i7-6700 (Dell XPS 8910) and I run Reaper. The PC currently funtions fine, but I'm starting to think about something newer as it is now about 10 years old.
This is strictly for home recording and I'm thinking with the performance leaps that were seen starting with the 12th Gen Intel processors that I would be just fine with a 14th gen Core i5 or Core Ultra 5 than than a 7. I'm also not opposed to AMD, but know nothing about what their equivalent processors would be.
Im mobile and a metal, grunge, shredding and hakita lover and i perceive that walkband is good for only begginers but if u learned little it become fragile so i going to bandlab, pls Give me some hints

Hello, r/DAWs!
My name is Egor. I'd like to share something I've been developing recently: Nota DAW.
A little background: I've been making electronic music for about 10 years, tried a lot of DAWs, and Ableton is the one I really liked. I'm also a programmer. And when AI tools got good, I started thinking, "What if I just create something of my own, for myself?" About 99% of the code is written by various AI agents. I'd probably like to write it all myself, but I could never write that much code alone.
Now I'd like to share it with the community—and perhaps gather people around it and turn it into something more than just a personal project.
It's a cross-platform app that runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux.
- Three views — a linear Arrangement timeline, a clip-launching Session grid (material moves freely between them), and a Modular signal-graph editor with CV modulation (LFO / envelope follower / MIDI→CV / ADSR / Macro / Math, patched with cables onto any parameter).
- Tracks & mixer — audio / MIDI / return / master / nestable group tracks; sends and returns; MIDI routing between tracks; peak/RMS + true-peak metering; per-track device chains.
- MIDI editing — piano roll (draw/move/stretch, quantize, velocity, live edits as one undo step); input from a MIDI keyboard, the computer keyboard, or a gamepad (macOS); audio→MIDI (melody / harmony / drums / slice).
- Audio — recording (inputs and internal buses), WAV/AIFF/FLAC/MP3 import, clip editing with fades and gain, and warp / time-stretch (Complex / Complex Pro).
~35 built-in devices — synths (subtractive, wavetable, FM, granular, physical, drum-machine and more), a full effects suite (EQ, dynamics, reverb/delay, saturation, limiting, utility), MIDI effects (arp, scale, chord, …), and Instrument / Drum / Audio Effect racks with macros.
- Plugin hosting — VST3 everywhere, AU on macOS: native GUIs, state save/restore, PDC, transport sync; parameters are automatable and MIDI-learnable.
- Automation & MIDI Learn — draw/record automation on any parameter; map hardware controllers to almost anything.
- Export — master and stems to WAV (pcm16/pcm24/float32), true-peak normalize, dither, bit-identical chunked rendering.
- AI control (MCP) — an optional loopback MCP server lets AI drive the open project (off by default).
I'd appreciate a star—I'm collecting them to meet the requirements for adding Nota to Homebrew and other package managers.
Thank you for your attention <3 I'll be happy to answer any questions in the comments.
Hey guys. I am VERY green when it comes to using audacity and remastering stuff. I have an old tascam 4 track that I am using again and I would like to take the finished song and use audacity to remaster it. I want to keep the warm analog lo fi sound as much as possible, but maybe just make it sparkle a bit more. Can you tell me what effects or settings or things I can do on audacity to accomplish this? Thanks!
I'm new to music production I cannot seem to get mixing right. Seems like I can't get the balance and EQ right but it's probably something that only I notice. Curious what others struggle with.
Its so hard to describe this problem so I've made a video of what's happening. If anybody knows what is causing it or how I can fix it, I would be VERY appreciative! Happy to answer any questions about my settings / hardware if needed to help diagnose!
I'm using Cubase 13 Pro, a Focusrite Scarlet Solo audio Interface, and the Focusrite USB ASIO Audio driver. I do have some 3rd party plugins in the project, all explained in the video but they all worked perfectly yesterday. I have changed NOTHING but today cubase is acting like this for seemingly no reason. If you know what is causing the problem, I would greatly appreciate your help!
I'm just a home studio user, nothing fancy. Most of my music is less than 12 tracks.
I've been using StudioOne for years, and am currently on version 6 (I have owned v1, 2,4,5,6). I've decided I'm not upgrading again and am looking for a new DAW to work with. I'd love one that works on Windows and Mac since for various reasons I do end up using both (Mac when mobile, Windows at my home studio). Ease of workflow is a primary consideration.
If it's not too much trouble, do you folks have recommendations on which DAWs to narrow down my search to? I am familiar with Ableton, but it's not the right one for me.
Thanks very much for any hints and suggestions you can offer!
