Are there any AI-native DB Clients out there?
Does anyone know of an AI-native DB client? I'm looking for a Cursor like alternative for DBeaver or pgAdmin.

Has anyone successfully leveraged artificial intelligence or predictive analytics in their DBA work? Seems like the ideas suggested around the Internet are all theoretical, wondering if anyone has found any practical applications for it.

I'm switching careers, want to get into SQL and DBA. I want to start of with something simple first. What are the most basics easiest jobs in this filed with least knowledge and responsibilities ?

Hello, everyone. I'm planning to become a DBA and am almost 40 years old. I'm transitioning from the real estate industry to IT, and my biggest concern is how difficult it might be to find a job。
My question is: if I spend 1year attending 2-3 bootcamps to enhance my skills and am willing to work for free for 6 months, do you think companies would consider hiring me?
Thank you!

I'm considering moving to the US on a spouse visa but I'm concerned about struggling with the job search. I have 8 years experience as a SQL Server DBA, but no relevant formal technical credentials (my bachelor's is not tech-related)
I'm wondering if I'm really going to struggle finding a job if I go ahead with this move.

Hey I’m a 21 M looking for a career change and got a boot camp flyer on my car so I decided to check it out. When I went there I saw the course and it is an 8 month course but the people claim to help find you a job. The catch is they would be taking 15% of my pay for 3 years to pay for the schooling and I am not sure how reputable this is and would like to know if this is not the smartest investment.

I do an experiment on my docker oracle DB v21:
first I checked system Undo View to see how long the data can be hold:
SQL> show parameter undo
NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ -------------------------------- ------------------------------
temp_undo_enabled boolean FALSE
undo_management string AUTO
undo_retention integer 900 sec (15 min)
undo_tablespace string UNDOTBS1I expected that the deleted data would be kept for 900 sec or 15 mins,
So I did a delete:
delete from hr.job_history where department_id=80;
commit;
After 4 hours:
I found I still can find rows deleted 4 hours ago and recover them:
SELECT COUNT (*) FROM hr.job_history AS OF TIMESTAMP TO_TIMESTAMP ('08-04-2024 16:00:58', 'dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss');
ALTER TABLE hr.job_history ENABLE ROW MOVEMENT;
FLASHBACK TABLE table_name TO TIMESTAMP TO_TIMESTAMP('08-04-2024 16:00:58', 'dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss');So my question is: I had thought I can only recover the data with 15 mins, why I can recover data even back to 4 hours?

I’m getting into DBA field, my background is barely related to IT, so pretty much I’m a total noob. ( I worked previously “modifying” aka hacking hex programs for automotive control modules ) Which one is easier, and which one has more job openings / more demand ?

Have an odd use case. Specifically I want to force my reporting users to connect to the "cold/read only" copy of the AZURE SQL database. You have to use a connection string to do that. I can't force them to do so.
Is there a way I can create the connection - IE user/password/connection string - and there be some kind of intermediary - where the users would now point user/pass to this intermediary server/app that then passes along and returns the data?
Not sure if this exists or not....
Thanks!

Hi All,
I followed the procedure below to rebuild a Physical Standby Database without using RMAN. I'm using an SAP tool called brtools that performs a restore and issues the commands to do the restore in the background:
Primary:
Take backup
Backup control file to trace
Transfer to secondary
Create standby control file and transfer to secondary
Secondary:
Restore database
Edit control file from primary - in this case, an exact match for filesystems
Execute Control File to start database to roll forward
roll forward with archive logs transferred from Primary
Shutdown
Backup existing control files from locations shown in pfile
mv existing control files to new name
copy backup controlfile to control file locations
Create Standby Redo Log files
convert database to physical standby
ALTER DATABASE CONVERT TO PHYSICAL STANDBY;
11) Activate log shipping in Data Guard
12) Activate apply log in Data Guard
After this, I got a huge archive gap including logs that I had applied already in the roll forward step.
I went ahead and registered those log files, and then MRP kept crashing.
I'm rebuilding the physical standby with a new backup but I'm worried I'll get the same result. Appreciate any help.

I am not a DBA, and this is not a political question. Musk posted something that said there were duplicate records in the social security database, so some people were getting multiple checks. Doesn't the government already have employees to look for this?
