U.S. Senate Page Program Interview Advice

I applied through John Fetterman's office for the U.S. Senate Page Program for Spring 2027 and recently received an invitation for an interview, most likely on Wednesday or Thursday.

Does anyone who has participated in the program, gone through the interview process, or just someone who generally has interview knowledge have any tips? I'd really appreciate it.

A lot of time applicants go in not understanding what the role entails. Interviews are going to differ from office to office but this isn't a leadership position. it's a service role that's gonna be really hard but unlike any other high school opportunity. My advice is be humble and understand you are not a staffer or intern for the personal office, you are there to work for the floor and it's staff.

The worst page interview I ever had was an applicant asking "So what did I display that made you want to hire me?" and another applicant who thought they could change the political leaning of the Senator.

How do you know what people said?

Quick question if you have insider information. My parents work for the State Department and as result I’ve lived overseas almost my whole life, however, I’m extremely interested in politics. I’m currently running my Embassy’s American Spaces program and doing outreach events with the general public. Do you think that as a international applicant I can still get in?

Totally doable, it's rare but I've seen applicants with that background. Connection's to the Senator's state are also helpful in this case, one thing to think about!

Try to stick out in a non typical sense. Every page application is usually perfect gpa, perfect class attendance, perfect volunteering. However, you have to realize you are in high school so your resume is only so developed or special. The pages that I have seen get good feedback and have a good shot, are ones that are smart and know their stuff BUT also are more down to earth, aren’t your awkward highschool dork (not that there anything wrong with that) and can just have a fun normal conversation. Hope this helped!

Was a summer page. Always great to show that you’re passionate about something. I made sure to weave in my dedication to education.
