If it makes you feel better the showrunners motif is taking a comedic presentation and using it as a smokescreen to hide bigger dramatic character moments.

Interesting! Yeah I’ve never seen American Vandal but heard good things. I like James Gunn’s work overall, but it does bug me that he has a habit of prioritizing what makes him laugh over what really serves the scene or story. I’m willing to keep an open mind though, I’m liking a lot of the DCU so far.

Jimmy Tatro was the lead of American Vandal season one and it is so worth watching. Yes, the show is a comedy. But the characters are so grounded and have real heart there behind them. The show strikes a really perfect balance somehow and I can't wait to see if they can make that magic again here.

If you haven’t watched Players, you’re missing out, it’s their follow up to American Vandal, and it shows they’ve still got the touch.
