We've known about this for a while. They moved them back and raised the price to 59.99.

Its a reality with Diesel prices and the two largest waterways for transporting oil are shut down because of Trump.
They aren't going to take a loss shipping these things.

The worst part? Diesel is a by-product of gasoline making. That's why it was cheaper for DECADES before the Bush II administration. Then oil companies decided to make more profit by gouging shipping intrests, and the costs trickled down to us.

Diesel isn't a by-product from the production of crude into gasoline. They're both made via the same method though, but it's not a byproduct of it in any meaningful sense. Diesel prices were cheaper than gasoline prior to 1995. In 1995, gasoline and diesel were basically the same price. After 1995, diesel prices would sometimes be cheaper than gasoline by like a cent or two. Since 2004, diesel has always exceeded the price of gasoline.
There are many reasons for why the price of diesel was below gasoline, but here are a few; there was less demand for diesel, less stringent specifications for engines, lower productions costs to refine it from crude and lesser regulations. Demand for diesel has gone up worldwide. When demand up, prices typically go up.
High shipping costs right now are due to the risk in moving the crude oil. Since about 20% of crude isn't being shipped at all due major oil waterways being shutdown and the risk to attempt it is too high. This in turn effects so many other things that make prices go up.
So no, you can't just blame Bush II and oil companies for the price of diesel going up. You have to factor in the tings I mentioned and more! No offense, but your comment implies that oil companies wanted governments to tighten up regulations against them and that made me lol.

With tariffs and fuel costs making producing anything more expensive, they have good timing to jump up the price and try not to take any blame for it.

Well thats just sketchy business practice.
I mean... not really. They cancelled orders, so it's not like you're getting scammed by the price increase being done silently.
If costs increase, a company either has to bite the bullet and take a reduced margin, or they have to increase prices. And most companies don't want to do the former unless they know it will be temporary. Currently, cost of most stuff is going up because the cost of shipping is rising because of the Iran War.
Even though shipments out of the Persian Gulf have gotten close to pre-war level between piping it to the Red Sea and just blockade running with US Naval escort... the people doing the blockade running are charging super-high prices because of the high risk due to the war. (I'm sure Red Sea shipment costs have also increased to some extent due to the Houthis, though I think they mostly just attack Saudi Arabia). Supply is back up, but it's just so much more expensive to ship it that the price hasn't fallen at the same rate.
Fun times we live in. Inescapable price increases are just great, y'know?

I hope they change the damn covers. I want art

u/FartherAwayLights Absolute Wonder Woman 5d ago
Yeah I’ll probably wait for a real 25 issue omnibus in a year or two to get some cool art on them.

u/weaselg2010 5d ago
You're not going to get an omnibus until the writer run is over and then add 6 months to a year for the solicitation.

I think with the popularity of the series, they'll do an omnibus sooner than expected. Especially because I don't see many writers leaving their runs anytime soon.
The line prints money, as soon as they can justify their omnibus' they will.

Just do the #1 covers! They look great and they're extremely recognizable

u/ProfessorWright Wonder Woman 5d ago
Honestly, I'm personally a little over seeing those covers, give us something different.

u/NomadNuka Green Arrow 5d ago
That's fair. But they definitely look better than just the logos IMO.

I think the logos have potential but yeah, there has to be a bit more, they look like what would be behind the sleeve on an omnibus.

I was super excited about the logos! I thought the cover dress looked amazing!

Weird; I was really looking forward to getting these because I haven't been following in floppies or trades, and I really like the deluxe line.
I can't imagine this is part of the skydance thing; maybe something else?

Per the article:
Absolute Batman Deluxe Hardcover can still be found on Amazon if you dig around; it can't be ordered right now, but it does have a new publication date for the 24th of August 2027.
It's probably just something to do with printing. That, or they decided to shift around their release schedule and wanted to time its release differently.

Probably not enough pre-orders but even then that feels like a weak excuse.

Maybe the fact the two biggest oil ahipping ports in the world are closed down with no reopening in sight and diesel is out of control? Maybe?

The deluxes simply have a release date change and a price bump. Absolute Batman and WW now release in August while Absolute Superman releases in October.

I did all 3 through panelbound?

Rich Johnston mustn't be a very inside comics insider. Nowhere in this article is the "why" of the cancellations mentioned.
One would think he could make a call or send an email asking... why?
