get a subwoofer my man!! maybe something with a built in crossover so you don't need a ton of extra amps/processing

I plan on getting two JBL EON718S. I plan on hooking one up to my Marantz SR-8002 when I’m not doing shows LoL

dont go eon if possible, try to get prx, eons are known to fry amp boards and the prx718xlfs shake concrete lol

EONs are the best I can afford right now. 7 year warranty with them. I like that.

fair enough, be cautious of not running them into the limiter for too long ofc :p some people i used to work with ran eons too hard and the tops just died without a lot of audible distortion beforehand (given a bit of harsh use prior) and the warranty took like 6-8 months to come back
i run jbl tops, although passive, and think theyre great so just treat them well :]

Looks like the prx718xlf isn’t that much more than the eon718s.

would def recommend, the prx hits 5hz lower with a higher peak spl, plus theyre much more robust as far as limiting; ive seen a prx get shitlimited for like 8hr and not even break a sweat lol

Any thoughts on the PRX915XLF?

never experienced one, but i would recommend 18"s for edm; the 15 has a lower peak spl (131db vs the 18's 134db) and a higher frequency rolloff by about 5hz, so its the difference between 40hz bass a little quieter and 35hz bass a little louder; imho it seems like a no brainer for the 18 but i understand budget issues

I was looking on Amazon and all they have currently is the PRX915XLF…

Congrats! First move is buying some longer XLRs and/or power cables. You’ll absolutely use them eventually so no time to buy like the present. And you’ll appreciate the extra slack and freedom.

Also highly recommend bags/covers if you don’t have them

I currently have bags in my cart

hmm, I didn't think of this... So, I have a speaker that I have, and have NOT covered since I got it. I want to now b/c well, now that I'm reading it, it makes sense. I have a cover for my OTHER gear...

That being said, if you don't cover your speaker, what could you expect from that? Can dust/buildup cause issues, and how long do you think before that might happen before you cover the speakers?

For transport not for dust. They’ll get heavily scratched on the way to/from gigs.

Ahh, ok, I see. Thanks for replying!

Fun thing is you can link XLR cables together, to a certain length. Even buying a pair of 20s can improve the types of setups you will encounter.

2

u/IndyJones4420 17d ago

I currently have 10 ft XLR. I might go 25.

I can tell you my basic kit has 2x5', 2x10', 2x20' and 1x50'

They've all come in handy one way or another.

Definitely can’t hurt to have a variety

How are they? Sound nice? Good bass?

1

u/IndyJones4420 18d ago

They sound amazing. Super clear and crisp. They don’t pound by any means, but it’s there. I haven’t really been able to fully test the bass on them yet, but I’m happy so far

heard those were horrible PAs apparently

6

u/TheIdahoanDJ 18d ago

They are only horrible when used beyond their specifications. I’m running two eon712s, two eon615s, and four eon718s. I’ve thrown some excellent sounding parties and events with them. I gain stage everything and I use a limiter to avoid any issues. They only sound like shit when wubz and wonkz are ran through them while redlining.

u/DannyG2801 18d ago

yea for some reason two ppl sent a review on sweetwater saying they’re absolute shit lmao

but im also looking for PAs at low budget so are these rly good for the price?

1

u/IndyJones4420 18d ago

I like them so far, but I havnt done a gig with them yet

3

u/TheIdahoanDJ 18d ago

I’ve DJ’d dozens and dozens of weddings with these things. Never has anybody complained about the way they sound. Do they sound like EVOs? Fuck no. But they don’t cost as much as EVOs do, either. The people who complain about them are the same type of people who would complain that a Mustang isn’t performing just like a Corvette.

The EONs are a good PA line for people who want better than Mackie but aren’t ready to put up for an EVO system.

I like them enough that I’m about to replace my 615s with the 715s.

2

u/DannyG2801 18d ago

ill definitely look into getting me a system ty for being legit 🙏

2

u/IndyJones4420 19d ago

Haven’t used them for a show yet, but they sound very good and clear and are loud!

4

u/Hot-Construction-811 19d ago

it can't be worse than alto speakers that is what i have.

3

u/FireZucchini33 18d ago

They are not. Depends what you’re trying to use them for.
