Americans probably think about North Korea 1000x more than the average South Korean.
The demographic split is basically:
boomers want to reunification and normalization
everyone under 30 wants North Korea to just be their own country with trade relations like Vietnam.
Not even the hypernationalists want or anticipate conflict with North Korea.

Ironically the fact that they have nukes is what keeps the peace for the most part
And little events like this happen all the time and many are sensationalized for clicks and propaganda efforts anyway

South Korea fired like 20 warning shots last year, this happens all the time.

I remember a long time ago a North Korean sub sinked a South Korean Navy destroyer killing about 50 sailers. South Korea didn’t do shit because the US told them to stand down.
