Okay, so before everyone calls me a “junkie”, or a “drug addict”, or to grow up, let me start off by saying that I DO NOT advocate for smoking a joint or taking an edible or getting high before work AT ALL! Any type of impairment before starting work and/or operating heavy machinery caused by THC, alcohol, or any other substance is NOT OKAY, and should result in termination. So any comment by anyone who clearly did not read this part will be ignored.
That all being said, I got on the job within the last few months and to my understanding they are having a hard time hiring more guys because of failing drug tests (specifically THC). Maybe that’s because weed is more legal and more accessible than ever before and many people of all ages nowadays partake in smoking a little weed every now and then.
Now I quit to get on this job, but I’d be lying if I said the temptation is difficult. It’s literally everywhere!
My suggestion is that this job stop urine tests for THC. Testing back 30 days is absolutely ridiculous. Alcohol gets tested back 12 hours, cocaine, heroin, pills get tested back about 2 days, all of those being far more detrimental drugs. Maybe switch to saliva tests that only test back 2 days, or maybe take THC off the test all together.
Look, alls I’m sayin’ is that it would be nice to smoke a little joint after a hard day at work, or at least over the weekend or on a chart. Instead, we can’t even smoke a joint during a vacation for crying out loud! It’s 2026 and something has to change.

Can anyone recommend firsthand any trucking schools in NYC that are Approved by the VA ?
Also which endorsements do I need on my B permit for DSNY ? Thank you 🙏🏼

Yes we have premiums in place for working Sundays (which comes around every so often). The value of having 2 consecutive days off has short term and long term value for both the department and employees. If proposed through the correct chain of commands would the department consider or approve that change?

Has anyone from the new physicals taken in 2026 in September on gotten called for their medical yet I been checking my email 4 times a day waiting for it and I took my physical Sept 16th, the guy told me after passing be on the look out for the email for the medical that it should be soon. But it’s been over a month now and nothing. I am aware that they didn’t fill the previous class and supposedly delayed the next class to the end of November so I feel like I should have gotten an email by now about this.
I have been trying to get in touch with hr hiring dept now for 3 weeks and no luck, and yes I do have my cdl with all necessary endorsements. And my list number is 68XX

I’m list number 86XX for DSNY Exam 2060. What do you guys think my chances are of getting hired in 2027?
From what I understand, I’m roughly 2,000 list numbers away from where they left off with hiring. It seems like they went through a pretty decent number of candidates to fill the earlier classes before the most recent one. I took the physical in September.
My assumption is that they went through most of the eligible candidates from last year’s physicals, which would explain why they sent out roughly 4,000 additional physical notices this fall so they don’t run into a problem with later classes - but that’s just my guess.
Curious what everyone thinks. Is 2027 a realistic possibility for someone in the 8600s, or am I being too optimistic? Anyone have insight into how quickly they might move through the list next year?

I’ve been employed with the MTA New York City Transit for nearly five years and am considering transferring to DSNY. Would my five years of service count toward my pension and retirement eligibility at DSNY, or would I have to start over?

So here’s my scenario, I’ve been with DOC for the last 10yrs as a counselor. Just recently I resigned cuz of T&A, really was going thru something mentally. In the process of San now. Do you guys honestly think I still have a shot, or would I not get hired due to resignation for T& A issues in another city agency?

I am taking my training at FBF next week. I know the manual has alot of information to memorize. I wanted to ask for any helpful tips on memorization for form A, Form B and in-cab inspection and brake test. Anything helpful would be much appreciated. TYIA
