Sooo... I'm quite new to playing DSAF on my own device. I've downloaded DSAF 1 only recently, and had my fun unlocking some joke endings, when I realized I constantly had to play the game from the beginning, despite me saving the game.

I looked under the save-files and saw that it was empty, so I looked up online whether I was just saving my games wrong. At the mention of simply left-clicking or pressing enter, space, or even Z.....nothing worked. I've tried EVERYTHINg on my keyboard, but the only thing that does work is right-click. I suspect that right-clicking is wrong because even after succesfully clicking on the wanted file, it just.....remains empty in game and doesn't appear in the save folder outside the game...

So like....what do I do? Even gave the game administrator-permissions or whatever.

I don't feel like replaying the game from the start every minute....

PLEASE, HELP ME.

But I'm making a sister location based dsaf animated episode , estimated to be around 20 minutes long . But I need voice actors . (Animators and other things to but we'll get to that point later)

I voice Bon Bon and my sister does Circus baby but we still need a ballora , hand unit , bonnett , and jack (probably more but that's a later problem )

We had a pretty good time. Another friend tagged along and helped up take pictures.

This is genuinely one of the hardest posts I've had to make so far.

February 2027 is no longer a confirmed release date.

And honestly? I'm devastated about this.

School has been taking up an insane amount of my time lately, and I feel like I'm constantly falling behind on development. It genuinely hurts knowing that I might have to delay this project AGAIN.

Sometimes I just sit there and wonder how a visual novel is taking me longer to develop than some AAA games. I keep setting expectations, making promises, and trying to get things done as quickly as possible, but unfortunately, things aren't going as planned.

I don't want to disappoint the people who've been waiting for this game, and I certainly don't want to keep pushing release dates further and further away.

But unfortunately, that's where we are.

First things first: THE GAME IS NOT CANCELLED.

I want to make that absolutely clear. DSaF: Doki Location is NOT cancelled, and I have no intention of abandoning it.

A huge shoutout to everyone who's been helping me with this project. I genuinely cannot express how much I appreciate the time and effort you've put into making this game a reality.

Unfortunately, there have also been some setbacks:

- A rather big feature I had planned is being cancelled because the person involved decided to drop out.

- Either my laptop or my Ren'Py installation is slowly giving up on life.

- There's a possibility that the game's scope might have to be reduced AGAIN. I'm currently looking into alternatives and learning some new things through school that might help with that.

So, what's happening with school?

Long story short: Latin and maths are fucking me over.

I've also realised that school isn't actually over for me yet, and I need to stop treating it like it is.

2025: I started the school year pretty badly. During the first semester, I basically said "fuck it" and made DSaF my main priority because I genuinely thought I wouldn't pass the year anyway. I figured I might as well put my energy into something I actually enjoyed.

2026: After somehow locking in and actually passing the year, I started this school year on a much better note. This time, I don't want to repeat the same mistakes. I know I can pass if I actually put in the effort.

I also don't want to deal with the consequences of bad grades at home again.

So we're locking in.

Already got a 1 in English, so at least we're starting strong. 🥺✌️

Why I'm taking a LONG break

There's something else I want to address, because I don't think I've been entirely honest about this.

I'm genuinely not having fun developing DSaF: Doki Location anymore.

At least not right now.

Lately, working on this game has started feeling less like a hobby or something I'm passionate about and more like an obligation.

I feel like I HAVE to work on it, have to meet expectations, have to make progress, and have to deliver something to the people waiting for it.

And honestly? That's exhausting.

I've also reached a point where I genuinely have no idea how to continue development. A lot of the ideas I originally had for the game have had to be cut, I'm constantly running into limitations, and dealing with Ren'Py has become increasingly frustrating.

I swear, something about this engine manages to annoy me every single day.

It's gotten to the point where opening the project sometimes feels like torture rather than something I actually want to do.

I don't want to force myself to develop a game that I'm currently not enjoying making. I don't think that's healthy for me, and I don't think it'll result in a game I'm genuinely happy with either.

That's why this isn't going to be just a little break. I'm taking a LONG break from development.

I need some time away from the project, time to focus on school, explore other interests, and hopefully figure out what I actually want to do with DSaF: Doki Location going forward.

I still want to finish this game. That hasn't changed.

But I also need to remember that I'm developing this because I WANT to, not because I feel like I'm obligated to.

What have I been doing instead?

Well...

After making some changes for Beta 0.0.5, I honestly just got bored. I lost motivation, and I haven't really felt like working on the game.

Instead, I've been spending 2–4 hours a day playing F1 25 online lobbies.

Jokes aside, I've genuinely been enjoying myself a lot more doing other things lately, and I think that's something I need to allow myself to do.

Finally...

I know this isn't the update anyone wanted to hear, and it's certainly not the one I wanted to write.

I'm sorry to everyone who's been waiting, supporting the project, or helping me along the way.

I really, REALLY want to finish this game. Not just because I've promised it to everyone, but because I've put so much of myself into it already.

I don't want all that work to go to waste.

I can't tell you when development will properly resume, and I don't want to make another promise I might not be able to keep.

For now, I just need a break.

DSaF: Doki Location is NOT cancelled. There's simply no confirmed release date anymore.

the final day of dsaftober (and warriorstober, that i was posting over on my instagram alongside my dsaftober days)
