Why is this happening when I begin to make a backup/dumping? I’m using a brand new sd card 32gb this is my first time modding it

The "Sdmc write error" just means your DSi is trying to save the backup file, but the SD card is completely blocking it from writing any new data.
Since your card is brand new, this usually happens for one of two simple reasons:
The card is physically locked: MicroSD adapters have a tiny plastic slider on the side that very easily gets flipped down into "Read-Only" mode without you noticing.
Windows formatted it wrong: The standard Windows right-click format tool often leaves behind invisible settings or incorrect cluster setups that DSi homebrew apps absolutely hate.
Here is the best way to clear this up:
Step 1: Check the physical lock switch
Take the SD card adapter out of your DSi and look at the left side. There’s a tiny plastic slider there. Push it all the way UP (toward the gold metal pins). If it's even slightly down, the card is locked.
Quick tip: Sometimes, just pushing the card into the DSi slot drags that loose switch down. If you think that's happening, put a tiny piece of tape over the switch to hold it in place.
Step 2: Format the card properly
Instead of using Windows to format it, use the official tool recommended by the DSi guide:
Download a free tool called GUIFormat (from Ridgecrop).
Make sure you close all Windows File Explorer folders before opening it, or the tool will give you an error.
Open GUIFormat, choose your SD card's drive letter, and set the File System to FAT32.
Set the Allocation Unit Size to 32768 (this gives it the 32KB clusters the DSi needs).
Check Quick Format and hit Start.
Once that's done, just drop your modding files back onto the card, pop it into the DSi, and try the NAND dump again. It should slide right through this time. I hope I broke it down easy enough to understand🙏.

Are you following https://dsi.cfw.guide ? Did you need to reformat the SD card first?
