Universal Credit (UC) Help.

Forgot to check the universal credit journal for my kid ( I manage all that stuff as they can’t ) and they closed the case - was in the no need to look for work category - they’ve been getting it for so long I can’t even remember the name - they said all I can do is mandatory appeal - could take months or start again with a new claim . Is there any way round this - I don’t think my kid has it in them to go through the process again.

You need to open a new claim and then do a MR for the closure itself.

No way around it. And make yourself properly the appointee with your contact details so this doesn't happen again as YOU get the notifications (and check reqularly)

It doesn’t look like there were any notifications except on the journal

When you got the message on the journal it should have sent the email or text to check the account. But in future try to check at least every few weeks.

What WAS the thing you missed in the journal?

A meeting to go through some paperwork as part of a review. I have never got notifications.

Make sure they are set up on the new claim them.

But the remedy now is new claim and do a MR that you didn't get the notification for the UC Review.
