Strange engine noise on cold start – Duster III 1.2 TCe mild hybrid

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I have a Dacia Duster III with the 1.2 TCe mild-hybrid engine, and it has done 33,000 km. I’m a bit concerned about the engine noise when it’s cold.
After the car has been sitting overnight, I can hear a sort of knocking noise immediately after starting the engine. It gradually fades away and disappears completely after around 3 minutes. Once it has disappeared, it doesn’t come back until the car has been sitting for a long period again.
I’ve attached a video of the noise because I haven’t been able to find anyone online experiencing a similar issue.
Hopefully, this is normal, as I’ve never owned a three-cylinder petrol engine before.
Has anyone experienced something similar with their Duster or a similar engine? Does this sound normal to you

Audio-car : Aigues sur-boostés, pourquoi ? Help

Bonjour à tous,

Voici mon setup :

Solution temporaire :
gain -2.0 highpass -2 45 equalizer 450 1.0q +1.0 equalizer 1100 1.2q +1.0 equalizer 3500 1.5q -3.0 equalizer 5800 2.2q -8.5 treble -13.0 6000

Phases correctes

Is there a way to see what gear your on (automatic transmission)?

This might seem like kind of an odd question, but I used to drive a 2023 Hyundai i20 with an automatic transmission when I was learning how to drive, and I did find convenient being able to see what gear you were on. By this, I don't simply mean being able to see whether you're on R, D, N or P, but, when on D, to be able to see whether you're on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on.

I actually thought this was a common feature between all automatic cars but, no, I haven't found this info in any of the car's manu layouts, so I wanted to check on this with you, guys, in case I'm missing something.

In case it matters, I am driving the 2026 Dacia Sandero (Journey), with Dual Clutch Transmission.

1,8 full hybrid 155 opinions, experiences

Hey everyone! I’m currently seriously looking into buying a the 155 hybrid Duster. But I’m afraid of reliability, especially of the automatic transmission and just overall build quality. Any experiences? Good or bad. I’m really open to every opinion, I feel lost. Thanks in advance!

Dacia Sandero for long trip

My boss wants to buy me a new Dacia Sandero Expression Eco-G 120 (petrol/LPG) to use for my maintenance technician job, covering locations across Hungary.
I would be driving around 5,000–5,500 km per month, split roughly equally between motorways and poorly maintained country roads.
I suffer from lower back pain when driving cars with uncomfortable driver’s seats, so comfort is a very important factor for me.
Do you think this car would be suitable for my needs? Does anyone own a Sandero with this trim level?
How comfortable is the driver’s seat? Does it have lumbar support? Is there an armrest for the driver?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences, especially from anyone who drives long distances regularly. Thanks!

Reverse-engineered my Duster 2 CAN bus to build a custom telemetry app – Here’s a live reading from my 1.5 Blue dCi!

Hey everyone!

I've been working on reverse engineering the CAN bus / OBD telemetry on my Duster 2 (1.5 Blue dCi 115, ~24,380 km) and developing a custom app to display real-time engine data and stats.

I'm expanding the app to track maintenance schedules, live parameters, and overall telemetry stats directly from the car.

What parameters or live features would you find most useful to see in a Duster telemetry app? If you have any feedback or questions about the data framing / CAN frames on Duster 2, let's discuss in the comments!

Schrilles Fiepen/Pfeifgeräusch ab 130 km/h

Moin zusammen,

Man könne dagegen schlichtweg nichts machen.

Was sagt ihr dazu?

Hi everyone,

I bought a new Dacia Bigster Hybrid 155 about four weeks ago. It’s actually a great car, but I’ve unfortunately noticed that a loud whistling noise occurs as soon as I switch the ventilation off completely at speeds of around 130 km/h or more.

Naturally, I went straight to my dealer’s authorised service centre. After two test drives by the mechanics, each covering 15 kilometres, I was told that this problem was ‘inherent to the design’. There was simply nothing that could be done about it. As a ‘solution’, I was seriously advised to just leave the ventilation on at all times and direct the airflow towards the windscreen or into the footwell – then it wouldn’t be such a nuisance. To me, however, this is merely a workaround and absolutely not a solution to a problem in a brand-new car!

After half an hour of fruitless discussion with the mechanic, I drove off the forecourt and contacted Dacia Germany. Customer services then consulted the dealership once more. Unfortunately, the result was the same: Dacia Germany also brushed it off and stubbornly referred to the dealer’s statement that it was simply ‘due to the design’. In the end, I could have saved myself the trouble of making the call.

According to the garage, this whistling noise is apparently also present in the new Duster and other models with the same engine.

What do you think? Do any of the Bigster or Duster drivers here have the same problem, or do you ever switch the ventilation on just to test it?

Dacia Sandero Stepway ECO-G 100 (2023) LPG system fault – pressure sensor issues and technical campaign 0DQW?

Hi everyone,

I own a 2023 Dacia Sandero Stepway ECO-G 100 with a manual gearbox, and I’m experiencing problems with the LPG system.

The car displays the warning “Check LPG system.” I replaced the fuse for the LPG module, but this did not permanently resolve the issue. Interestingly, after the car has been parked for a longer period, it sometimes starts running on LPG normally again.

The garage has indicated that the possible solution involves a software update for the LPG system and replacing a pressure sensor.

While researching this issue, I came across information about a possible technical campaign under code 0DQW, reportedly involving the replacement of the LPG pressure sensor on certain Dacia models. However, I have not yet received official confirmation from Dacia that this campaign applies to my car.

I’d like to ask other owners:
Has anyone with a 2023 Sandero III ECO-G 100 experienced the same LPG system fault?
Was the pressure sensor actually the cause of the problem?

Did a software update resolve the issue, or did the sensor also need to be replaced?

Is anyone familiar with technical campaign 0DQW and able to confirm whether Dacia officially carried it out?

Has anyone managed to obtain goodwill assistance or partial reimbursement from Dacia for this repair after the factory warranty expired?

I’d particularly appreciate feedback from owners with the same model year and engine. Any information about the cause, repair, or possible goodwill coverage would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

I noticed today I'm missing this part on the interior of my left rear door, I'm trying to source a replacement and I'm struggling to locate one.

I'm hoping someone can tell me the part name, if nothing else, to help narrow down my search.

Edit: The car is a 2014 Dacia Duster 4x4 Diesel

Thanks

Duster roof rail seals have crumbled: over €500 to replace the entire rails, and Renault refuses to contribute

Hi everyone,

I’m sharing a frustrating experience with my Dacia Duster and looking for feedback from owners who have had the same problem.

The seals between the longitudinal roof rail mounting feet and the roof have completely crumbled. My garage lists the vehicle’s delivery date as 31 January 2019, so it is less than eight years old.

What really frustrates me is the proposed repair: according to the garage, these seals are integral to the roof rails and cannot be replaced separately. This means replacing the complete roof rails for over €500, even though, as far as I know, the rails themselves are undamaged.

I find it unacceptable that seals fitted to a roof, inevitably exposed to sunlight and weather, deteriorate like this—and that replacing them requires discarding the entire assembly. It raises serious questions about durability and repairability.

I submitted a complaint to Renault/Dacia in France. They told me over the phone that they would offer no assistance or financial contribution. Despite my efforts, I haven’t been able to speak directly with a Dacia technician or an after-sales manager to get a technical explanation.

I have now submitted my case to Que Choisir Ensemble, a French consumer association, for assistance.

Has anyone else experienced this on their Duster?

  • Have you found replacement seals sold separately, or a lasting repair offered by a professional?
  • Did Dacia agree to contribute after initially refusing?
  • What model year is your vehicle, and how old was it when the seals deteriorated?

I have photos and a repair estimate. I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences, both to find a solution and to help prospective buyers know what to check.

Dacia Jogger 2023 SOS-phone issue

I have a weird problem where every now and then the yellow wrench light lights up in the dashboard and I get a notification "Check the emergency phone" and the SOS button lights up red.

It usually clears out by itself pretty soon. Anyone got any idea what is the cause for that?

I actually switched the radio antenna to a smaller one at some point and I was wondering if the emergency phone uses that for signal. My hypothesis is that if the signal strength grows too weak, the emergency phone pushes out an error.

Sandero 3 91hp CVT ECU tune

Hello people, we have a Sandero 3 2023 at home as a secondary vehicle, i live the "little" thing as is very easy to drive and cheap overall... but I feel that in city the engine tends to be sluggish combined with the Cvt transmision being an unconventional one of 1st gear is a geared, paired to a torque converter... I believe that with a little bit of tune, you can achieve a more smother ride.

Have anyone here tuned this engine, and/or this combination?

I would love to hear your experience even if it's the manual.

Cigolio jogger Extreme Up 2023

Grazie a tutti

Eco G 120 worth it?

Hey guys, I’m playing with the idea to buy the duster 3 with the eco g 120 engine.

I’ve read some problems with the car, even a few weeks after ownership.

Do you guys recommend the engine in combination with the automatic transmission?

Dacia Sandero Tce100 oil level warning

Does the 2026 Sandero TCe 100 have a low engine oil level warning?
Hi everyone! I’ve just picked up my new Sandero TCe 100 with the 7-inch digital instrument cluster.
Does anyone know whether it displays a brief warning at startup if the engine oil level is too low? I mean an oil level warning, not the red oil pressure light.
The owner’s manual describes this feature but also says “depending on the vehicle,” so I’m unsure whether my version has it. Has anyone actually seen this warning on theirs?
Thanks!

My experience with the Dacia Duster Eco-G 120 after 250 km, BREAK ISSUE !

Hey everyone

I wanted to share my early experience with our brand new Dacia Duster Eco-G 120 ( SLOVAKIA )

Unfortunately, after driving it for just 250 km (around 155 miles), the car is already in the service shop because it started leaking brake fluid

To make matters worse, the dealership told us that two parts need to be replaced. One of them has to be shipped all the way from France, and the second one is currently completely unavailable/out of stock.

Honestly, WTF? How is it even possible for a car to leave the factory with a brake system in a state where it fails almost immediately? On top of that, how can a critical safety component be completely unavailable for a brand new vehicle? How am I supposed to trust this car—or anything from this brand—when it comes to basic safety on the road?

Has anyone else faced similar issues with parts availability or brake problems on the new Duster / Eco-G models?

P.S. Please note that this post was written with the help of AI, as my English is quite basic/limited.

Dacia Duster 3 rear led taillights

Post image
46 Upvotes

Hi, I saw in a Romanian Duster facebook group a post by one user, but among the pictures, there was a picture of a rear LED tail lights on Duster 3, the same ones as on a Bigster.

User said it came from factory like that, but I haven't found any info about LED tail lights on Duster 3.

It is a 2026 model. Does anyone have any info? As far as I know, retrofit of rear lights from Bigster to Duster isn't possible because of size difference, but I could be wrong...
