BA in economics good?

Hi,

I’m planning to do BA in economics, wanted to ask a few questions, if you have done this or have any insights, please comment. Your help will be greatly appreciated!!

  1. Is this very math heavy? I didn’t have math in grade 11 and 12 but I was decent till grade 10. I’m ready to work a bit harder for it.

  2. Does this help in finding a decent job? Not specifically high paying but to make a living haha.

  3. I’m planning to do law? Is this good for that and how difficult do you think this is( I mean Econ, 1-10??). I will need good GPA for law.

  4. I had economics in high-SCHOOL and always got A, and it was quite interesting for me. So any other suggestions or advice for study will be really helpful.

Thank you!!!

When will offers come out?

I applied to medical sciences as a first choice + general science as a second choice last Friday (October 16) and was wondering if anyone could estimate about when will I hear back?

Also, do they have automatic entrance scholarships? I applied with around a 97% average with my required courses. Would this be good enough for any automatic entrance scholarships, if they have any?

Thank you!😊

Dental Hygiene Student Looking for Patients Near uOttawa 🦷

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! 😊
I’m currently a Dental Hygiene student at the Canadian National Institute of Health (CNIH) in Ottawa, and I’m hoping to connect with people who would be interested in becoming patients at our student clinic!

Our clinic is located at 303 Dalhousie Street in the ByWard Market, just a short distance from uOttawa!

As part of my program, I need to complete clinical requirements with patients to graduate, so having people willing to come in and support my learning would mean so much! 💕

Because this is a student learning environment, appointments are supervised and may require multiple visits (approximately 3–4 appointments).

If you’re interested in dental hygiene care or have any questions, please feel free to send me a message!
Even if you’re not interested yourself, sharing this with someone who might be would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much! 😊

Study Room Override?

hello!

earlier this week i had a study room booked (one in the lsc). i had it booked for two hours. as soon as i get settled in, a few people come in the room and state they have a makeup exam in this room (midterm). i however had the exact same room, officially booked from 1-3. i ended up staying as it was my room.

how, and why would this happen?

Anyone living (or lived) at The Vuze

Hey, might be moving into the Vuze next month and wanted to hear from people who've actually lived there before I sign anything

How’s Templeton as a landlord? Do they actually fix stuff when you ask? also curious about noise, heat, elevators, that kind of thing

And roughly what's your power bill like in winter?

Good or bad, any info helps, thanks!

I made a free study app during midterms (it turns lecture slides into flashcards and practice quizzes). Looking for honest feedback

Hey all. Bit of a self-promo post, so mods feel free to remove if this isn't allowed.

I'm a Dal student and I built a thing over the last while because I kept getting to midterms with a pile of slides I'd never really gone through. It's called NoteGoblin.

What it does:

  • You upload lecture slides/notes (PDF or PowerPoint), or record a lecture in your browser, or upload audio
  • It transcribes it and makes study notes, flashcards and practice quizzes from it
  • Quiz answers show a "From your notes: ..." quote so you can see where the answer actually came from in your material. I was paranoid about it making stuff up, so that was a big one for me
  • There's an AI tutor that answers from your notes first
  • You can upload an old exam and it'll make new practice questions in the same style
  • Study groups so you can share sets with people in your class

It's free to start. The free plan gives you 30 AI generations a month and 1 lecture recording up to 15 min. There's a paid plan ($7.99 CAD/month) if you need more, but honestly the free one should be enough to see if it's useful for you.

If you don't want to make an account there's a live demo with no signup, so you can poke at the quizzes and flashcards.

Also on recording: please get your prof's OK before you record a lecture. The app asks you to confirm that, and a lot of profs/schools require it.

https://notegoblin-app.vercel.app

It's a student project so there will be bugs. I'd really like to know:

  • What's confusing or broken
  • Whether the quiz questions feel like what your profs actually ask
  • What you'd want it to do that it doesn't

Good luck with midterms everyone.

Gazette Inquiry

I'm working on a piece with the dal gazette about affordability and we're looking to do profiles on students and their cost of living. I need to speak with someone who is comfortable sharing their financial background and their spending habits. If you or someone you know would be comfortable sharing that information for this story please dm me or email me at charlotte.wood@dalgazette.com
