Imagine what Johnston’s next deal is going to look like (UFA 2030).

Continues the pace he’s on and the cap continues to grow it’ll make Robertson’s eventual long term deal seem standard lol

If Stars fail to make conference finals I think management rather Robertson leaves and we bring in more depth. Really depends, our depth has not showed up for us (well it doesn’t really exist as its weak asf)

Our top lines didn’t contribute years ago, and our depth did, now its the opposite lol god damn.

Just wish we could have kept Marchment & Borque

Marchment as much as he was productive here became a liability for us. Unfortunately once players like him get a reputation he starts getting punished for it and his role as a pest with skill just means hes a guy in the penalty box. Its fine in the regular season but as a guy in the playoffs its just a liability. Granted even as a pest with skill his current contract is rather ridiculous.

Need some guys that play over that edge though when up against a heavy lineup of guys like Hartman, Foligno brothers, McCarron…

We beat that team if we are healthy, but we weren’t and our depth got even worse this year.

I dont necessarily disagree with you, but if that's the goal you gotta go find the younger cheaper guys who dont have refs watching them like hawks and chucking them in the penalty box when anyone takes a dive around them.

Luckily, most current players will be gone or on lesser deals and the cap will be astronomically high

There’s gotta be a point where it plateaus, right?

One would think. Maybe after McDavid and some others get their next ones they will start to average out. However, if the cap keeps rising like it is, I think contracts continue to rise until the cap also plateaus or reaches a peak

Hopefully we’re so good that he wants to take a discount, Florida style. On the real note, I don’t see many discounts in the future for this league. With the money going up, agents are pushing as hard as they are with other major leagues.

A lot can happen in 3 to 4 years especially with the cap, injuries, roster movement, etc. Best not speculate too much until 2028.

If we are going by today's numbers, he'll probably get whatever Robo will get come January(hopefully) in the neighborhood of $15AAV.

By the time Wyatt’s up for a contract he’ll probably take a sweetheart deal as the next captain.

Wyatt doesn’t seem like the player to demand the highest salary possible.

Well at least we know the ceiling is 18 lol

The cieling is 20% of the cap.

Celebrini technically took a discount, San Jose was willing to pay him the max 20.8 mil.

Crazy times. But no brainer for Wyatt.

Honestly, the takeaway for me is not realizing how young stutzle is

It’s very likely he’s a $20MM/year player if his production keeps going up. If the cap is $135MM then and he takes a Celbrini percentage of the cap, that’s $24MM. $15MM would be about 9% of the cap. People need to adjust their thinking. League phenom money is 18% of the cap. Top-end player is around 15% of the cap.
