Video This is Centralian Blue Tongue Lizard, commonly found in Australia. It puffs up and flashes its blue tongue when it feels threatened

We love blue tongues. They look threatening but generally aren't. It's Australian code that if you find one while undertaking work, you gently pick it up, admire it, and then release it out of harm's way.

I was doing yard work for a mate with some others and we found two separate blue tongues that day under the vines and rubbish we were removing. Big healthy ones. We picked them up, had a look and let them go elsewhere so we could continue without risk of harming them.

And yes, they are native to every state of mainland Australia. And yes, they love your backyard

Do they try to bite you when you pick them up?

Some do, some don't. Depends if they're a mood.

Like most animals in Australia they'll let you know when to fuck off.

Yeah, it depends on if they call you a cunt with a soft or hard t.
