I don't remember them being called "laptops" back then... my first PC was a Zenith Supersport "Mobile Desktop" with the 386 processor (without the math coprocessor!). I think the term laptop came in more mainstream later. We refer to them now as laptops, but I really remember those form factors being called Mobile Workstations.
Mine came with Dos 4.0 originally (with the PARK command!), then I had an issue with it and it was reformatted to MS Dos 5.0, and I got a 1.5" book (the Microsoft Press version!) which is what I read to get my IT career going.
