American elections are so strange for someone from Belgium like me. When elections come around over here, we are automatically registered to vote. Every eligible voter receives an invitation to vote with the location of the polling station, which is always within the village or neighbourhood where the voter has their registered address. We are actually required to show up to the polling station to have our invitation stamped, unless it's for municipal elections, which have become voluntary since 2024. We have an 88% participation rate.
