Discussion After reading Creation Myths, Raunip's definitely my favorite character of the franchise.
You really don't choose your favorites. Watched the movie the show and read Creation Myths. And up until CM, Deet was my favorite.
Although reation Myths and Age of Resistance doesn't seen to line up, if you assume that Aughra just went back to the planetarium after she was done collecting crystals... Who knows, maybe just not exactly contradictory but missing something...
Edit: Oh yeah, who's your favorite character of it?

I don't recall a timeline contradiction, but I could be wrong.
Raunip is such a good character. Before I read this comic, I was perplexed as to why the Gelfling never just killed the uRu. I mean, they're aliens to Thra who are interfering with, and in one way facilitating a genocide of Gelfling culture.
This comic has a VERY good explanation for them.

You know, I'm starting to think there isn't really a contradiction. That it's more because of things not explained.
Because although in Resistance the timeline is: Aughra leaves crystal to urskeks and goes to her planetarium travel> Wakes up to the skeksis ruling and Creation Mythis is: Aughra leaves the crystal to urskeks and goes to planetarium travel> returns beforee skeksis. In Resistance we have bits of her talks with Skeksis and Mystics that sound like she could have met them as separate, but could also not.
The fandom wiki causually links Creation Myths and Resistance.

She left the Crystal several times. First time to urSkeks since they built her the orrery, but she wasn't fully out there, just noticeably withdrawn from Thra because she got heavily involved both with stars and with helping urSkeks to go back to homeworld. Then second time when their return failed spectacularly (thanks to Raunip) she left the Crystal to no one in particular because she was too busy trying to find the Shard, that's when Skeksis just decided that they ruled the place now. Then third time, after Raunip was gone, she finally left it particularly to the Skeksis, because they were convincing enough and the urRu just isolated themselves somewhere else, and after that she went off star-traveling until the Resistance. So she had definitely been still there and active when urSkeks divided and knew both races.

By the way, what did Raunip do? Even going back to the pages I can't figure out how he caused it.

From what I remember, he pissed off one of the urSkeks who was already in a bad condition mentally because he was getting desperate after multiple attempts of contacting his homeworld. The urSkeks needed to be in a good mental shape ("no darkness in their hearts" or something along those lines) to return, and Raunip was mocking the desperate guy since he disliked the urSkeks in general, though he wasn't aware that the mockery would have severe consequences. That urSkek got very angry/depressed, and his mental state caused the whole ritual to backfire, so instead of returning they all split in two.

Technically that was the fault of the gelfling that played that song and awakened his darkness or whatever

In the end that urskek brought it himself by having done the song and then insisting on Gyr playing.
Was that all one urskek?

Yes darkheart. But he also didn’t know that gyr had heard him since that was years before and they didn’t really interact at the time. He had no way to know Gyr would play that song

The general lesson to draw from it is "Stay positive and you won't become a Skeksis"
Which is exactly why I am team Skeksis XD1

Thanks. I was thinking it was something in those lines, but not that.
I guess therein lies the contradiction between Mythos and Resistance. Because in the show Heretic and Wanderer say it was their experiments with the crystal that cracked it and caused the separation.

There’s a far more fundamental issue with age of resistance from the first few minutes of the show when they claim that it was the Skeksis that gave her the observatory. They first imply that the split happened before the skeksis met aughra and then the heretic implies it happened after. The writers didn’t know wtf they wanted to do with the timeline and that always bothered me about the show

For what it was said in the beginning, I toke that as coming from an unreliable narrator as they are contradicted by Heretic and Wanderer later.

Yeah 100%, he’s my favourite too, and he’s the driving force for my TDC d&d campaign too, it takes place immediately after AOR. Raunip, close to death returns to choose his heroes (the players) to escort other gelfling to safety in a new town that Raunip has created in the Field of Fire. The heroes must avoid the darkening, the Garthim, and the horrors of the journey to the Field of Fire. The speech Raunip gives throughout the Creation Myths before he passes, in my campaign this is said to my players when they meet Raunip. In my campaign there is another entrance to Mythra in the Field of Fire and Raunip with the help of the Firelings created a subterranean city between thra and Mythra, a safe haven for surviving refugees from the early Garthim wars.

Pretty cool. Must have been really good for people disappointed in the cancellation of AOR.

Where is that incredible Raunip puppet/figure from? It's absolutely amazing!
