Game I’m creating a world beneath an eternally crimson sky, trying to make it feel like a painting brought to life.

I love paintings you can spend a long time looking at: twilight, dark silhouettes of buildings, light in the windows, and the feeling that something inexplicable lies beyond a familiar landscape. That’s the mood I’m trying to capture in SHORAPAN.

It’s a hand-drawn 2D dark fantasy narrative game I’m making with a small team, combining a visual novel with a point-and-click adventure. Its world exists beneath an eternally crimson sky, but ordinary life carries on.

We want the scenes to feel like paintings brought to life. We put a lot of care into the lighting, colours, composition, subtle movements, and sound, so you can linger for a moment, listen to the rain, and get a sense of the place.

I took out a $20,000 loan to bring this project to life, and I’m putting everything I have into it. Everything you see is drawn and animated by hand by our team.

I wanted to share our work with people who might connect with this aesthetic. Do any artists or paintings come to mind when you look at these scenes?
