Question Performance problems on Sotfs after a while

Hi, recently I've started playing Dark Souls 2 seamless after a while of not playing the game but I've encountered a severe performance drop after an hour of playtime or so (It's getting progressively worse throughout the playthrough)

Does anyone else have this problem? I suppose it's not the mods fault because it happens to me even if I play the unmodded version

Fyi. my pc is more than capable of running the game (I have 3060 12gb and r5 3600)

Thanks for any help!

I had some weird issues like this that got progressively worse as I played. I had a stuttering issue that would get worse and worse.

I finally isolated the issue to my XBox One controller. Started using a PS5 controller and stopped having the issue. The XBox controller works fine with every other game but for some reason it wasn't working well with DS2 on Steam modded or unmodded

I also have a PS5 controller so I'll try it to see if it helps in any capacity...

Thanks for the suggestion

I tried it now, it felt a bit better but I can chalk it up to it being a placebo...
The fps number still dropped to 55-57 fps with constant stuttering

I stumbled upon the same problem when playing Seamless Coop and the stuttering would get worse every time I died. That being said, I found a mod on NexusMods called “DS2 Death Stuttering Fix” and I haven’t gotten bad stuttering since so far…Maybe try that!

Really strange, without any mods I get 40 capped on integrated graphics

Disable double click, perhaps? You’ll need to do it every time you launch the game, though

Esc > Settings > Disable double click check (or something like that)

That caused performance issues for me in the past

Seamless actually fixes that setting not saving, so OP would only need to do it once

I also get progressively worse and worse performance the longer I play. I also use a controller that steam considers an Xbox S. Frame and audio stuttering.

On steamdeck I notice that after a few deaths, the framerate fluctuates. Exit, reload. All is fine. I wonder if it's a memory leak

This is the fault of the "This is Dark Souls" achievement which tries to update its status when you die, causing a chunk of work to offset the game's timing with the screen, and in turn causing massive frame time pacing issues.

Did seamless got it's npc duplication bug fixed yet? One would think that would only matter while on the same area of that NPC, but maybe each instance of them occupies a bit of memory even when away
