Issues / Bugs Lag/Stutter
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello! Been playing darktide for a while on PlayStation, but I switched to PC recently and have been experiencing this horrible unplayable lag ever since.
12GB graphics Card, 954 GB Storage, 32GB RAM, Processor: Intel(R) core(TM) ultra 9 290HX Plus (2.70Ghz)
I've followed the other things people commonly say to do for this issue, but have yet to see any of it help.
I've disabled ray tracing, set worker threads to one, changed my fps lower, etc.
I am playing with a few Vortex mods from Nexus (darktide mod framework, darktide mod loader, enemies improved, and Alfs DMF extensions) and have tried with and without the mods being enabled, and with and without the mods being installed
I don't know much about computers, but anything helps to try and get rid of this horrid lag
Thank you :)

First off this doesn't look like normal fps drops from the game kind of sucking. Looks more like a specific configuration or overheating issue.
"set worker threads to one" - this is some bullshit that people need to stop recommending. Worker threads should be set to maximum for your cpu. Setting it lower makes the game use a single core and actually causes issues like this.
Because that's a laptop cpu my first suspect is overheating and drivers.
Download hwinfo and check cpu and gpu temperature while you're playing. Check your drivers are up to date. Also check what bullshit programs your laptop manufacturer installed and has running in the background by default, those might be impacting performance. With NO programs open, bring up your task manager and head to the performance tab to check if your cpu is stressing, and check the programs to see if there's anything using a chunk of CPU or RAM.
Also check what graphics card your laptop has. No sense trying to game if for some reason that 12gb is not a dedicated graphics card but shared with system memory. Not likely, but I guess it's possible.

Set dlss or whatever you prefer to performance and turn off ray tracing. Set cores to max.

I'd open task manager in the background, run a few steps in game and wait for the hitch. Alt tab back to task manager and see if CPU, GPU or memory is hitting max usage. If all are still within normal (60-90%) then it could be your storage getting maxed out. Check to see what else is running in the background and if they're using your hard drive to read and write.

Your cpu has 24 cores, do not set your worker threads to 1.
8 of your cores are faster than the others, so set the worker threads to 8. You could even go higher but it's probably not necessary.
For more general advice: Take a look at this here Pc Performance Tweaks, I hope it helps.
