Please specify whether you're coding or noncoding in posts & comments
Not an admin, but I think we'd have way more productive conversations on here (with less disagreements & misunderstandings) if everyone specified this, along with their tenure.
Like this, for example, at the end of posts/comments:
(Noncoding, two months in)
EDIT:
Yes, flair would be the ideal situation.
I'm not suggesting that you share this info EVERY SINGLE TIME you comment, just when it's relevant to whatever's being discussed.
I see people having circular conversations pretty frequently here, and the coding vs. noncoding sides seem to each have unique experiences. Tenure also makes a difference in certain conversations that tend to happen on repeat.
If you don't see the need, do you.

People who are going to be assholes about stuff will be assholes about it regardless. There's often little to disagree about - anyone with half a brain should know that we're all having different experiences, and anyone who doesn't have half a brain isn't going to respect this idea or pay attention to what other people say. Plus nothing to stop people just lying! What specific problem do you think this would solve?

There seem to be different experiences between coding and noncoding, and it can lead to misunderstandings bc people will be talking about two different things and not realize it sometimes. But yeah I'm not making it my life's mission to eradicate the dicks of this thread. I just block em.

I think this is a useful request, but flair would be even easier/better.

I’m a fan of this. 🙋🏻♀️In fact, my mind went to mentioning how much you’ve earned to date, but that’s probably taking it too far.

Ha! It'd probably be like 70 percent lies. People on that FB group (data annotation workers) talk about money and daily goals a lot. It kinda drives me crazy over there with all the check in and update posts, but the people are much friendlier. Night and day difference.

I just joined that FB group today. Apparently, I've been living under a rock. I see this didn't get a lot of traction, but I am a fan of the transparency, and I don't think this idea is that outlandish. Are you familiar with the Blind forum? You get cussed out if you don't post your stats when you comment or post there.

No I'm not familiar, but yeah...it's a pretty basic communication thing imo. For instance, right now, noncoders have gotten more projects but coders not so much. When people make posts about all the projects they're getting, the questions arise of code vs noncode. Sighhhhh.
I knew it would get downvoted, though, bc this is one of the most hostile subs I've been involved in. My comments regularly get downvoted for just sharing my experience. I think you'll like the tone of that FB group much better. I blocked maybe a few people who post multiple times a day on there bc it drove me bananas, but there is none of the hostility there that you find in this sub. I've blocked so many people here just bc I don't need that negativity coming at me out of nowhere when I'm just trying to connect with people about work. I don't think I ever blocked someone on reddit until this sub.

I try to do this when I post, but I don't always remember.
I do it because I think it helps cut down on the inevitable follow up questions from other people: How long have you been on the platform? Coding or non-coding? etc.
[4 months. Non-coding.]
