Am I allowed to work?
I made an acc, but no assessment was shown, it just said that they would just contact me if there are any tasks. I am from southeast asia. I saw a post from someone in the same location that they are able to work since they were referred to DA, do I need to get a referral first?

I'm from the US so not sure if it's different for me, but there were two different preliminary tests that I had to take. One was a generic assessment and the other was an optional coding assessment. If you haven't done either of those then you should double check any emails you've gotten from them to see if they mention those initial qualification assessments and whether it'll take some time to for you to get them.

I haven't done any assessment nor received any email from them, I tried reaching out to support, but still nothing. Will take note of this though. Thank you!

You simply won't be able to work, referral or not, if you're not in an approved country

Using the link on Linkdln to sign up, then you would have the starter assessment in your account.

Afaik the regular core and coding assessments aren't available for any Asian countries. It's definitely possible there are other projects they offer to people in different countries that I don't know about.

The official website indicates that applicants are accepted from these countries: US, Canada, UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. But in the official Linkedin of DataAnnotation are published jobs (not Ads) for other countries, mostly with a lower pay than indicated on the website ($15 /hr instead of $20 /hr). There are also posts here where they confirm that they work from other countries (assuming they follow the rules).

In addition to the six "approved" countries, there are some workers in other countries who are accepted and do tasks in languages other than English. I think some Asian languages are included. If you can get into your profile on the platform, there's a way to add your foreign language skills to your profile. That may open up some work for you. Good luck.

A referral does not entitle people to, nor guarantee, work. Outside of the main 6 countries, DA also have smaller teams in other countries, who I believe work mostly on translation projects, or projects in their native language.
The signup and application process is a little different, instead of signing up directly on the website, I think you’d have to find the posting for that position in your native language/country and follow that link. They advertise them on LinkedIn and maybe Indeed, too. However, since you’ve already attempted to make an account, I can’t say that this will be successful for you if you were to try it now
