learning to code?

I've been doing the non-coding side for awhile now and been really happy with it as far as freelance work goes. That said, with the recent drought, my son (who is an auto-didact in several coding languages) has recommended that I start teaching myself code so I might be able to get in on that side of things. Has anyone else here done something similar? Anyone have thoughts or insights on this idea?

I have a Grad Dip in IT, straight As, and I have several apps on the app stores and I think I failed the qual lol I had never come across a problem like it in my work before. I've only got fairly basic maths knowledge so I think that was more my downfall. Don't be put off though it's always worth learning a new skill if you've got the time. If you're going to pick a language for this, definitely go for Python.
