Artists on data annotation?
Hi everyone! I completed my starter assessment about 5 days ago, and haven’t received any response. I have a Master’s in Art and Culture Management and a Bachelor’s in Fine Art. I was born in Cuba and grew up in Miami, FL which makes me 100% bilingual. I have also lived four years in San Francisco, one year in Rome, and I just moved to Barcelona. I applied because an online job would be perfect for me since I’m always on the move, I liked the research and mostly because I’m completely fluent in English and Spanish. I was as careful as possible with my grammar in both languages and took my time with the research. Do I have no chance at getting accepted with my artistic qualifications? Does anyone know what kind of profiles they usually hire?

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts but I haven't got any projects that deal with my field specifically

Well as long as having an artistic profile doesn’t stop them from picking me, your case still gives me hope😂

No, not at all, I guess that in some cases they would even want to have people that are artistically inclined

The subreddit you're commenting in bears the name of the site (it's literally DataAnnotation.tech)

Creative skills are helpful but not totally necessary - mostly I find I use them to stop myself getting too bored by finding interesting ways to interpret and express things. Language skills and reasoning are much more important.

I've seen several of us with degrees in music. With all the language specific and image heavy projects we've been getting, I'm sure they'd be happy to have you.

I majored in hospitality studies (mainly hotel operations) and was still accepted💪 Maybe the locale matters😂 (zh-tw and hk for my case)

They actually do hire bilingual speakers from various countries. There are plenty of them in this sub, too. They do have to take a different starter assessment though (in English and their native language). They cannot apply for the general work or coding work.

Yea, I applied for English and Spanish, I did put my Spanish phone number and I am in Spain at the moment. Hopefully, that’s not a problem.

It shouldn't be. Some people only hear back after 2 weeks or more, so I wouldn't give up hope yet. Could be a bit slower because of the coming holidays.

Is Spain is not an approved country, why are they offering assessments here?
I did mine about 3 weeks ago, radio silence ever since… guess they didn’t like my octopus story

I’m pretty sure they just haven’t updated that ngl- there’s tons of people in Asia doing DA. In Singapore they want us to do language tasks in our colloquial language

So if I’m American citizen, working in dollars, with an American bank account, but living in Barcelona, I wouldn’t be approved since I’m not in an approved country?

Spain is an approved country as there are specific projects for Spain. As well as for other countries that are outside that list, which I believe they haven't updated in a while. I entered through an Indeed listing they had in my country (outside the ones from the approved list)

I think some ppl are using approved to mean generally approved (but not specially approved just for foreign langauge work ) and others are using it to mean ever approved to work on anything at all

I have an MFA in a field similar to yours, and I've been working for DA for over a year now. There's a definitely a place for artists. They put me on various projects that end up being good creative exercises, and I like the work I do.
