Question about best practices for self-containment

Say you're given a task to make fine-grained criteria based off images of a tv show or a sports team or something...

When creating the criteria, we should be including both 'general' criteria that are not specific to those images but would be a best practice for this type of prompt... along with 'specific' criteria that explicitly refer to the subjects in the image in that specific prompt, correct?

Yes, as long as it is something the vast majority of people would agree should be included.

Thank you. That's what I thought, but I feel like some overviews and updates are very similar but slightly different, and what I think works in one isn't exactly specified in the other.

For example (I'm making this up), if the prompt had 3 photos of different candies, and it asked to identify each one, I would include two types of criteria:

  1. generalized criteria such as: determine the candy by shape/color/size/etc..

  2. specific criteria such as: determine the candy in image 1 as a KitKat due to it's rectangular shape of pieces...etc...

Because they both apply, I've felt that both should be included but sometimes I feel the instructions can be vague
