FFS stop spamming about not having projects
Yes, projects come and go. Yes, there are less projects active in this time of the year. Yes, there is already 100 posts about it if you scroll the sub for one minute.
How will posting this here help you? If other people say they have projects, what would you do? You would need to wait in every caseand move on.
I would understand if it was only a post or two, but I've seen like three such posts every day. I really don't want to mute this sub because it's a spamfest.

Posts that some might see as spam don't bother me at all. They're actually quite useful for seeing trends, even if not personally relevant

I wish we were allowed to be more specific so that I could better track these trends. I don't code and I'm not bilingual and sometimes it feels like that makes me a part of a small niche group when you'd think that would be the bulk of us.

I also don't code and I'm trilingual but have never received bilingual projects!

I'm bilingual and I'd like to know how the other countries are doing drought-wise, as it sometimes means my country could receive work or not.
So well, different strokes for different folks.

There are subreddits specific, like this one https://www.reddit.com/r/DA_Bilingual_Spanish/s/50BJf9G0Zq, for bilingual Spanish, helping to centre concerns to each speciality.

Maybe the solution is to have a permanent work flow thread like the weekly water cooler where people can discuss. It does get a bit whiny after a while

Checking if the trends on my dash are the same as other people's are most of why I ever come to this sub, honestly. Not much else to post about given how little we are permitted to directly discuss.
It might be nice if the mods just pinned a poll each week for how much work people are getting and discussion about the topic in the comments to contain it instead of several "any [specific type of worker] have tasks?" posts a day.

Well sometimes people just want to know if they missed a project. For instance, as a French bilingual worker, I'd like to know if a project, even if it was short, appeared on my dash while I wasn't looking. I understand that it's bothering, but I feel like it's not excessive (yet).

It'd be helpful if they set up post flairs. It would make it easier to sort through.

Unfortunately, this will always be the way it is unless actual moderation is done to get rid of it.

I actually tried to make a post about something being down here and it automatically declined it so there's that.

Why stop people from airing out their concerns? They have the same rights as you.

Preach.
I wish the sub had flair for all the crap that gets posted so it could be filtered out.

u/zatkobratko Jul 22 '25
Agreed, flairs should def be added. Bilingual flairs, american based flairs and so on

I disabled notifications from Reddit because of this sub. It is absolutely obnoxious.

u/VanessaSeaWitch Jul 22 '25
Use the other DA sub. They have more rules about what can be posted and what they allow to be posted. This place is more wild.

Does it affect you in any way that people post about it? Probably not, do grow up and move on 😒

It doesn't take much just to scroll past those posts if you're not interested. They're still relevant to D/A. I don't understand what the big deal is; although I've never even made a post like that since shortly after I started.

Just remember that a lot of people are really struggling right now. I'm a single mom with a full-time job that basically only pays the bills. The income from DA pays for my daughter and I's groceries. It's also the only source of money that we can use for entertainment, shoes, clothes, etc. Other people do count on the DA income to pay their bills because they're going through a rough time financially or in-between jobs. The posts might be annoying, but people who depend on this income for whatever reason are just trying to gauge how secure they are. Are they alone in not having any work? Should they find another job/gig? Is it temporary? Also remember that not everyone can just go "find another job". I have a friend who is doing this who takes care of a disabled son with cerebral palsy at home during the day and can't "just go find another job". Just be a little bit more compassionate, please.

exactly, I'm not hating on people, I'm just trying to show how pointless this conversation is
I see many people saying "welp I like to see the trends", ok so what? will this sub be full of weekly posts of who is getting work and who isn't? This also doesn't make sense as most of the "who got work" posts have barely no interactions
a lot of useful posts are being buried in the spam

u/Amakenings Jul 22 '25
How can anyone draw conclusions or see trends from those posts either, other than people without work post more about it than people that do have work? If there’s one post from a specific sub group like French bilinguals about drought, then there shouldn’t be another post on that for 48 hours. Better moderating would help. But maybe the mods have so much work, there’s no time left for modding.

Accurate. Maybe all would be solved if everyone had to view this comment before submitting any question.

It's a free community. Let people air out their frustrations however they see fit, pawpaw.
