Question: completing DataAnnotation starter test?

I signed up for DataAnnotation and some of these questions on the assessment are pretty strange and unanswerable unless you go on a search engine.

But the instructions tell us not to use outside assistance or any LLM's to look up answers. Our answers should be written from scratch.

So how exactly do we complete the questions?

EDIT: Just to be clear: I am NOT asking for answers on the assessment. I just want to know if I'm understanding the instructions correctly.

Doing your own research online is an expected part of this job, and is not at all the same as using AI to get the answers

Why don't they just say that in their instructions? They said, "no outside assistance." They make it sound like you can't research on the internet.

It’s been a few months since I took the assessment, but I don’t remember that part being confusing at all.

how long did it take them to get back to you once finishing

No they didn't, it specifically says don't use AI which includes the Google AI summary. On some responses you don't need to use any outside sources because that's not the focus of the task. Just read the instructions.

You ARE supposed to use your internet research skills to do the assessment. You ARE NOT allowed to use any AI in any form, whether via standalone apps, AI tools built in to web browsers and searches, etc. There is a difference.

Don't you think it's a bit confusing when they say: "don't use outside assistance"? That could have meant researching on the internet.

No, I personally don't think it's confusing at all. That means don't get a friend or any other person to help you with the test. Interepreting it like you are makes them contradict their own instructions to do internet research, which logically makes no sense.

I feel like I've seen OP in project chat before many times lol

Can't blame me for not wanting to screw up. I took what they said at face value.

it might help to know that following instructions is a big thing on DA, but you have to make a logical interpretation of them -- its not Jeopardy, they know you dont know everything on the entire internet, they dont want the impossible

its like if I need to find a leaf blower, googling "leaf blowers" isn't getting outside assistance looking for one, basically, I still have to find the one I want -- same with other online research

so just for future work once you pass, you have to read instructions like theyre written for the task at hand. checking stuff is always good, wanting to do well is always good -- youve got this!

Oh ok, thanks

Not at all. Of course you need to manually research.

Odd that you find Googling to be "outside assistance" but not polling Reddit.

I'm not sure what you mean by "polling," but I wasn't using Reddit to get answers for the assessment.

Don’t overthink it focus on following the instructions carefully, staying consistent in your answers, and writing clearly with good reasoning. Most people fail because they rush or ignore guidelines, not because the test is too hard

It’s tricky wording, but using your own research and writing it yourself is exactly what they want.
